The Los Angeles Dodgers don't just make big moves.  In a smaller move yesterday, the Dodgers acquired utilityman Skip Schumaker in a deal with the St. Louis Cardinals.  The deal has not been announced by the teams. According to Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times, the deal is done. Source: the #Dodgers have acquired Skip Schumaker from the #Cardinals. — Dylan Hernandez (@dylanohernandez) December 12, 2012 Schumaker provides options off the bench and as a platoon man for the Dodgers.  With the Cardinals last season, he played in 107 games and hit .276/.339/.368.  He has spent his entire eight-year career with the Cardinals and has a career line of .288/.345/.377.  Schumaker will make $1.5 million in 2013, then he will be a free agent unless the Dodgers choose to extend him. Schumaker had a rough start to the 2012 season.  He suffered an oblique strain during spring training and had to be placed on the disabled list to start the year.  However, he bounced back nicely, and as he always seems to do provided everything the Cardinals needed from him in his utility role.  He will likely have the same role with the Dodgers. There is no word yet on what the Cardinals received in return. The End Of Jared Schumaker In St. Louis

Skip Schumaker is no longer a Cardinal. He's been traded to the Dodgers for a AA infielder.  This isn't a surprise to anyone. Schumaker, the consummate professional, saw the writing on the wall with the Cardinals and discreetly requested a trade from GM John Mozeliak.    I'm pretty sure outside of his family and some truly die hard fans, this is really...
