So Jayson Werth and Gio Gonzalez exchanged words in the dugout after the first inning Tuesday night. Above:Â the GIF via "Giants Gamer Babe" and the world. Steve McCatty and Rick Schu broke it up. Among the theories: Werth was mad because Gio failed to cover first on a potential double play grounder by Buster Posey in the first; Gio was mad at Werth for his own defensive...
Up above, video of Gio Gonzalez and Davey Johnson discussing the Gio-Werth dugout argument from last night.

Top Performance Last Night: Gio Gonzalez Readies A Pitch In The 5th Inning Of His CG In Houston
Baseball is known, and has been for a very long time, to be America’s pastime. It’s the sport of our country: a hot dog, cold beer, and peanuts on a Sunday afternoon at the park. It symbolizes freedom, unity, and everything American.
That all changed when greed started to sneak its...
It has not been a great season for the Washington Nationals or ace pitcher Stephen Strasburg. However, on Sunday, against the Philadelphia Phillies, Strasburg and the Nationals looked like the best team in baseball. Strasburg turned in one of the most dominant performances of his young career going the distance in his 68th start for his first complete game. He needed just 99 pitches...
Stephen Strasburg struggled during pregame warmups and tweaked his groin in the second inning. Yet after nine innings, he was still on the mound for the first time in the majors.
Strasburg pitched a four-hitter and struck out 10 in the first complete game of his career, Jayson Werth had his second straight three-hit game and the Washington Nationals completed a three-game sweep...

hamstring injury that has sidelined him for a pair of extended stretches
already this season, forcing the backstop to exit last night’s contest against
the San Francisco Giants, according to Tom Schad of MLB.com.
Ramos suffered the injury in the fourth inning, as he
attempted to beat out a ground ball that ricocheted...
Not even the intensity and drive of Bryce Harper can hold off the flu. Â The All-Star outfielder was unavailable for last night's game against the San Francisco Giants because he came down with the flu during the team's off day.
James Wagner of the Washington Post says Davey Johnson's decision not to play Harper was relatively easy. Â He says Harper slept all day...

If you blinked, you probably missed the slightest of smiles that flickered across Stephen Strasburg’s face as he stepped off the mound after the Washington Nationals’ (57-60) 6-0 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies (52-65).
Strasburg had just closed the book on the first complete-game shutout of his career, and true to form, he hardly showed any emotion as 32 thousand...
The Pirates have agreed to terms with catcher Kelly Shoppach (SHAW-pick) on a minor league deal. Shoppach has been assigned to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Two darlings of the 2012 season will face off at Nationals Park this week, but both the Washington Nationals (57-60) and the San Francisco Giants (52-65) find themselves in drastically different positions than they were last year, when the Nats swept the Giants in Washington.
The 2012 World Series champions are in last place in the NL West, and are 15.5 games behind the...
It was a soggy victory, but the Washington Nationals’ 4-2 win over the San Francisco Giants was a victory nonetheless, giving them a modest four-game winning streak for just the third time this season.
The Nationals sandwiched nine innings of baseball around a 77-minute rain delay, and kept their offense humming dimly throughout, even after most of the crowd had been...
Gio Gonzalez and Madison Bumgarner pitched to a virtual stalemate the first time they opposed each other this year.
With the San Francisco Giants continuing to struggle offensively, more pressure could be on Bumgarner the second time around.
The two left-handers match up again as the Giants visit the Washington Nationals on Tuesday night.
Both pitchers were impressive in Washington...
