Alfonso Soriano walked into a media pack at Fenway Park with a familiar smile, fresh off another big day at the plate. His historic four-game clip has the rest of the Yankees feeling good, too. Soriano has recently put up eye-popping numbers, providing the power that his New York teammates were missing and helping the Yankees tighten the playoff race. In his last four games through Friday night's win at Boston, the 37-year-old Soriano went 13 for 18 with five homers and a record-tying 18 RBIs, becoming just the sixth player to drive in that many during that span. The huge hits are even more than the Yankees hoped for when they got the good-natured Soriano in a trade with the Chicago Cubs in late July, bringing him back to the organization where he began his major league career in 1999.

BeanBall In Boston: Alex Rodriguez Intentionally Plunked By Dempster

Boston Red Sox’ pitcher Ryan Dempster intentionally plunked the often controversial Alex Rodriguez, a move that incensed Yankees Manager Joe Girardi leading to his ejection. Dempster threw behind A-Rod in the first pitch of the at bat, then proceeded to throw 2 more pitches inside for balls leading up to the plunking. The fourth pitch of the at bat Dempster made no mistake drilling...

Nelson’s two homers lead Angels to 8-4 win over Yankees

Alfonso Soriano goes back to being mortal. CJ Wilson was decent enough to eek out a win. The Halos bullpen made it much more eek worthy than needed. Recently it seems that our manager has no idea how to manage a bullpen (I know I am being redundant). Mike's new plan is that every bullpen clown gets to face one batter and then move on. I don't know how this play's...

Mark Reynolds has nice debut with Yankees

Signed earlier in the day, Mark Reynolds delivered at the plate for the Yankees on Friday. Reynolds, 30, had gone homeless over the final 22 games he spent with the Cleveland Indians. That was all put to the wayside as Reynolds hit a two-run home run in his first at-bat against Boston starter Felix Doubront. Later in the game Reynolds added an RBI single. While Reynolds may not hit...

A-Rod denies leaking documents implicating others

‘If I’m going down, so are others’, seems to have been Alex Rodriguez’s frame of mind when he reportedly had his boys purchase documents implicating Brewers slugger Ryan Braun and Yankees teammate Francisco Cervelliand, then had them leaked after of a story came out in the Miami New Times about Rodriguez’s own PED misdeeds.

Yankees' Derek Jeter out until at least next week

When asked if shortstop Derek Jeter will rejoin the New York Yankees' lineup by Sunday night, manager Joe Girardi told reporters -- including Kieran Darcy of ESPN New York -- that he "wouldn't think so." The skipper also wasn't willing to commit that Jeter will be available in time to be activated next week, as he continues to recover from the calf ailment...

Yankees Accused of Telling Doctor to Botch Alex Rodriguez’s Surgery

These are some serious allegations. A-Rod's new lawyer tells NY Times that team told doctor operating on him to make sure he never gets on the field again. Yanks deny charge. — darren rovell (@darrenrovell) August 17, 2013 A-Rod lawyer: Yanks prez Randy Levine told doc operating on him: "I don't ever want to see him on the field again." Crazy allegation. —...

Why A-Rod's angry lawyer may actually have a point about the Yankee brass

It's an A-bomb for A-Rod -- and his attorney! Joseph Tacopina, one of Alex Rodriguez's attorneys, started a new war with the Yankees -- or maybe just continued the current war -- when he unleashed some pretty strong accusations against the team, and against Major League Baseball. Here's a link to the New York Times article with the accusations. And here's what I think...

Today in Sports History – Lou Gehrig’s 1,308th Consecutive Game

On this day in 1933, New York Yankees first baseman Lou Gehrig played in his 1,308th consecutive game, breaking former Yankee Everett Scott’s record for consecutive games played. Gehrig would go on to play in 2,130 games in a row, a record that would stand for over 50 years. Cal Ripken, Jr. broke Gehrig’s record on September 6, 1995 against the Anaheim Angels when Ripken played...

Previewing Yankees vs Red Sox Tickets

The Red Sox have had their way with the Yankees this year, winning 6 of 9 games. Hopefully, that comes to and end when the Yankees go into Fenway for this weekend's three game series. The Yankees trail Boston by 8.5 games in the Division and 5.5 games out of the wild card. Safe to say, this is make or break time for this year's Yankees. That said, they have played better...

BOSTON — As the case against Alex Rodriguez as a baseball player and human being grows, the Yankees slugger was left taking a wide range of questions Friday night. Rodriguez fielded queries about the latest accusations against him, a 60 Minutes report that he implicated teammate Francisco Cervelli and Brewers star Ryan Braun in MLB’s Biogenesis investigation. But he also was...

Mike Napoli Out of Lineup as Red Sox Face Yankees Ace Hiroki Kuroda on Dustin Pedroia’s Birthday

Mark Reynolds, Alfonso Soriano and the rest of the Yankees got their hacks in Friday night, but if Red Sox fans had to pick any pitcher to come to the mound to halt Boston’s three-game losing streak (aside from a healthy Clay Buchholz), it would be John Lackey. Despite having not recorded a win since July 12 and not faring all that well in his last outing against the Bronx Bombers...
