According to a source with knowledge of the situation, the Cincinnati Reds have signed outfielder Joe Mather to a minor league contract. Mather, 30, will report to the Double-A Pensacola Blue Wahoos on Saturday. After being released by the Phillies in spring training, Mather signed with the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League on April 5th, and hit .271 with 2 HR and 4 RBI in 13 games with the team. He is the second Barnstormer to sign with a major league team today, joining pitcher Tim Dillard, who signed with the Brewers. A veteran of four major league seasons with the Cardinals (2008, 2010), Braves (2011), and Cubs (2012), Mather has appeared in 229 major league games, posting a .219 batting average with 14 HR and 49 RBI. In 2012, he appeared in 103 games with the Cubs, and hit .209 with 5 HR and 19 RBI. Indians claim Carrera off waivers, designate McDade
