USA TODAY Sports To start off, Forbes ranks the Red Sox as the 3rd most valuable MLB franchises at $1.31 billion. That’s only behind the New York Yankees ($2.32 billion) and the Los Angeles Dodgers ($1.615 billion). Also, according to Forbes, the Red Sox had $336 million in revenue and an operating income of $23.9 million. Also, the Red Sox have an Opening Day starter, and his name is Jon Lester – announced by the Red Sox Official Twitter. Lester only allowed two earned runs in 20 innings pitched this spring, and also struck out 16 batters while only walking 4. That was not the only call made today. Ryan Lavarnway also got optioned to AAA, according to NESN. This move doesn’t come to a big surprise, considering Jarrod Saltalamacchia and David Ross were in his way to an Active roster spot. Lavarnway went 6-44 this spring, with a double, three walks, and seven strikeouts. Additionally, no word yet on whether Jackie Bradley Jr. will make the team just yet, but he did lead off and in today’s 5-1 loss against the Miami Marlins – he went 1-4 with a walk and a strikeout. Speaking of lineup indicators, Shane Victorino (right wrist) and Jacoby Ellsbury (ankle) were out of the lineup. According to Peter Abraham, Victorino had an MRI on his wrist, and Ellsbury was kept out for precautionary reasons. Both were injured in Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies.
