The blow sent the two or three dozen Tampa fans in attendance to the exits to fight a three-hour traffic jam on the bridge. The Red Sox reduced their Magic Number to clinch the division to eight and took a commanding 9.5 game lead over the Devil Dogs. Ryan Dempster pitched another credible game—going five innings and giving up just one earned run while striking out seven. Brandon Workman gave up the game-tying runs—including a solo HR to Red Sox seven-weeker James Loney. The Boston offense—in addition to Carp—was led by Dustin Pedroia (2-4 with 2 runs scored), Daniel Nava (2-3, RBI) and Mike Napoli (1-3, 2 RBIs). The absolutely incredible Koji Uehara pitched another 1-2-3 9th—setting a Red Sox franchise record with 34 consecutive batters retired.

Mike Carp Scoffs At NYY Sign-Stealing Charges

It must be tough to have a $228,106,125 payroll and be fighting for your life in the "second" Wild Card race. Maybe that's why The Evil Ones are behaving in such Bush League fashion by charging other teams with sign-stealing. In their last two series they have accused both the Red Sox and Orioles of pilfering signage—and specifically fingered Mike Carp of The Carmine...

Carp's grand slam huge in Boston Red Sox series win over Rays

In what could be viewed as the most important series of the season for the Boston Red Sox, the team did not disappoint in three game road series in Tampa Bay. Boston responded in an impressive way by taking two out of three from the Rays. The highlights of the series came during the first two games but nothing was bigger than Mike Carp’s pinch-hit grand slam in the top of the...

Recap: Carp's slam in 10th saves the day

Another extra inning game, another dramatic win. In all my years of being a Red Sox fan, I never thought I would see a team with so many comeback or extra inning wins than the miraculous 2004 team. Man was I wrong. Mike Napoli continued his hot hitting in the top of the 3rd to put the Sox ahead first with a linear to right field and a Wil Myers bobble, scoring Pedroia and Victorino...

Mike Carp Gives Red Sox More Late-Game Heroics in Story That Never Gets Old for Boston

“It continues.” Those two words from John Farrell describe it best. The Red Sox’ 7-3, 10-inning win over the Rays on Wednesday represented just another day at the office for a team that turned dramatic wins into the norm long ago. But as common as it’s been for the Red Sox to produce late-game drama, the story never gets old. Maybe it’s because the action never seems to...

Tuesday night’s game against the Rays didn’t come easy for Ryan Dempster, but he kept the Red Sox in the game, and they eventually pulled away with the W.
