Found June 12, 2013 on IT IS HIGH, IT IS FAR, IT IS caught:
Last night, the Evil Empire didn't look so evil. Forget the 6-4 score. That was us covering the spread. We pulled four runs from the garbage bag in the late innings, then left just enough runners on base to keep fans from getting to sleep. All we accomplished was saving Mo for a night, and forcing them to use their closer. Hooray. I never thought I would say this, but we miss Ben Francisco. That is, an OF in the OF. We stick Lyle Overbay in right, knowing he cannot play right, out of respect for his citizenship and commitment to the Yankiverse. For his work on behalf of the Yankee ownership charity, he deserves a Rolex and celebrity roast hosted by the electrified corpse of Dean Martin. When a fly ball doinks down in front of him - the first of many, as this bizarre experiment continues - there's nobody to blame, because - after all - we have a firstbaseman playing right. But wait: We have a firstbaseman playing 3B, too - although he's hitting like Ben Francisco. Yankees Lose But, Before The Game, Cano Wins

With CC Sabathia once again pitching poorly in Oakland and the Athletics continuing their hot streak at home, last night's Yankee loss was as predictable as it was painful.  Something that was not predictable was the announcement before the game that Robinson Cano had been named AL captain of this year's Home Run Derby.I would have thought that last year's horrible experience...

J.R. Murphy Promoted to Scranton

J.R. Murphy is headed to the Electric City. “Murphy’s outta here, he’s gone to Scranton,” Tony Franklin told me during his post-game media session. “A lot of people think he’s a pretty good player and that it’s time for him to move on.” The loss of J.R. Murphy to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders is a difficult blow for the Trenton Thunder. After spending his off...

Derek Jeter and the Yankees received good news on Thursday after the Captain met with his surgeon, Dr. Robert Anderson in North Carolina. Jeter  tried to make it back for Opening Day this season but couldn’t after on-going soreness and an X-ray revealed a small crack in the surgically repaired ankle...

Mariano Rivera Continues MLB Farewell Tour, Surprises A’s Employee With Pizza (Photo)

Mariano Rivera will hang up the spikes after this season, and the surefire Hall of Famer is being sure to give back before he calls it a career. Rivera already took the time to meet with and sign autographs for a large group of Cleveland Indians team staff back in April. On Wednesday, during his final regular-season trip to Oakland, the closer arrived at O.co Coliseum with a surprise...

Can We Be Honest?

This will be the easiest and most accurate prediction I have made in the last 20 years:The Yankees recent draft will not yield a single player of value for the Yankees.Read all the scouting reports you want;  listen to the radio waves; follow them on the minor league sites;  do whatever investigative work baseball fans do.The Yankees recent draft will not yield a single player...

Mariano delivers — pizza — in clutch

In addition to being the most productive -- and most feared -- closer in the history of baseball, Yankees ninth-inning man Mariano Rivera has always been one of the game's class acts. So it's no surprise that he's going out with grace in his final season in the bigs. As the 43-year-old embarks on his farewell tour in his final season in pinstripes, Rivera is making a...

All-Star Captains Wright & Cano Show Off Hats: Hit or Miss?

The MLB All-Star Game captains, Robinson Cano and David Wright show off their new garb for the game at Citi-Field. The uniforms are pretty generic for an All-Star game, but those hats could be the worst in ASG history. With all the old school homage Citi throws in your face, they could’ve just done flat out better. Leave it up to the mets to blow it. We’re sure they’ll still...

- Michael Pineda is one step closer to a return after a successful outing in the Florida State League: - Kevin Youkilis missed Sunday's game in Seattle with lower back stiffness, but the injury isn't anything major. “It’s nothing like it was before,” Youkilis said. “Just needs a little rest.” - And in case you missed it, Chien Ming Wang opted out of his...
