Detroit Tigers minor league pitcher Nick Carmichael took the time to do this interview with Sports Glory. He is currently playing for the GCL Tigers. We hope that you enjoy this interview, and thanks for reading! Q. Nick, thanks for taking the time to do this interview. How are you doing today? No problem. I’m doing well, just getting ready for season! Q. What have you been working on in particular this past offseason? Mechanics. At the end of the season I talked a lot about my pitching mechanics with my coaches. I’ve spent this offseason really ironing them out. Q. What is it like being a part of the Detroit Tigers organization? I think it’s great. It’s a great organization to be a part of with some great history. I also have a lot of family in Detroit which makes it even better. Q. Do you know any major league players? Are you close with any other minor leaguers in particular? I am fortunate to be in an agency with some that I get to interact with often in the offseason. I also am close to guys in different organizations that I train with as well. Q. What are your goals for the upcoming season? My biggest goal is I want to win. That is a team and an individual goal for me. If I’m winning, the team is winning, and vice versa. Winning defines success and if my team wins, I’m successful. Q. What advice would you give to a young baseball player with MLB dreams? Work hard and never quit. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. Q. Where do you see yourself in five years? What are your goals for that time period? I’d love to be playing baseball still, hopefully in the big leagues. I don’t thinks its unrealistic for that to be my goal. Q. Is there a current MLB player that you try to model your game after? It would be hard not to model Verlander. The guy has pretty much done it all, and over a long period of time. As a San Diego kid I’ve also always liked Jake Peavy and the intensity he brings out there. Q. What do you like to do in your free time away from baseball? I like to surf a lot. That’s usually my go-to in the off season Q. Thanks for taking the time to do this interview Nick, we appreciate it. Anything you’d like to say to the Tigers fan base? No problem, I’m happy to talk a little baseball. Yeah, go Tigers! Let’s get it this year! Thank you for taking the time to read this interview, and we hope that you enjoyed it! Detroit Tigers 2014 starting rotation preview

The Detroit Tigers have been able to boast one of baseball’s best starting rotations over the past few seasons. A few months ago GM Dave Dombrowski rolled the dice by trading away Doug Fister and hoping that Drew Smyly would be ready to step in and produce. Will the gamble pay off? The Fister trade meant potential double-trouble for the Tigers because not only did the bullpen get...

Top 5 A.L. Pitchers in 2013: Max Scherzer

1. Max Scherzer, RHP, Detroit Tigers There is no question that Max Scherzer received the best run support in the league this season, but the fact of the matter is that the Detroit right-hander pitched so well that run support did not present itself as an issue. Max Scherzer finished the 2013 season with flashy numbers as he led the league in wins (21), with a 2.90 ERA, 240 strikeouts...

Max Scherzer: 'Detroit is where I want to play'

DETROIT -- Max Scherzer is in a great spot, and he knows it. He holds all the cards in negotiations on a long-term contract, and thoroughly enjoys pitching for the Detroit Tigers. He's pleased with the $15.525 million contract he agreed upon for this year to avoid arbitration after winning the Cy Young Award, and he's eager to get down to Lakeland to work on improving his...

Price tag of Tigers' Max Scherzer could be $200 million if he reaches free agency

The Detroit Tigers and Max Scherzer avoided arbitration last week, but there's likely no getting around the monster payday coming for the AL Cy Young winner. While Scherzer is unlikely to approach the record deal Clayton Kershaw received from the Los Angeles Dodgers (seven years, $215 million), he'll be the top pitching target on the market if he makes it to free agency...

Justin Verlander Says Richard Sherman’s Postgame Interview Would Earn Him “High And Tight Fastball” In MLB

Richard Sherman, star corner for the Seattle Seahawks, certainly earned himself a lot of attention tonight. Justin Verlander Not a Fan of Richard Sherman
