Jeter scratched from Yanks' lineup

Shortstop Derek Jeter has been scratched from the New York Yankees' lineup Tuesday against the Philadelphia Phillies. Jeter, who had ankle surgery last fall, was slated...

Enter Sandman: The Mariano Rivera Farewell Tour

All good things must come to an end. This is certainly true right now for the New York Yankees. Mariano Rivera recently announced that the 2013 season would be his last. Now while Major League hitters not on the Yankees will breathe a big old sigh of relief, for the Yankees and their fans it is a sad, sad thing. Rivera is the best closer of all time. I am not even going to say ...

AL BEast Notebook – March 13 Derek Jeter made his Spring debut in the field Wednesday, leading off and playing his usual shortstop position after DHing a couple games. He had just one fielding opportunity, picking up a ground ball and tossing to second for the out in the fourth inning. He went 0-2 with a walk. Jeter is 1-6 batting in his three preseason starts. Francesa Caller: Jeter like Mickey Mantle because everyone wanted to bang him

Jeter: Terrible idea to call up Chipper Jones

New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter thought it was a terrible idea for his club to call up retired Atlanta Braves star Chipper Jones, which he thought was a media-created joke. "Y'all just come up

My Own Tribute To A Little Bit Of History in 2013

This year, I plan on witnessing my own little slice of history during the season. I don’t know exactly when it will occur and to be honest, I can’t guarantee it will occur, but I’m going to try my hardest to see it. This season, I plan on going to Yankee Stadium and watching Mariano Rivera nail down a save for the New York Yankees. Sure, I’ve seen it before. Most of us probably...

Juan Rivera will get another start at first base, while Eduardo Nunez is at shortstop – Derek Jeter is expected to return to the infield for tomorrow’s game. Righty Ivan Nova looks to continue his strong spring in search of the final spot in the Yankees’ rotation. Here is the rest of the lineup...

Chipper to Yanks: No Thanks

In the last few months, the New York Yankees have started to look more like "The Walking Dead" than the "Bronx Bombers".  And while I like the idea of a group of zombies taking the field, it's probably better to be fully healthy than hurt. Naturally, rumors began swirling around about who might be throwing on the pinstripes and joining the Yankees when...

He was referring his latest article this morning in which he writes that David Wright has emerged as a true leader for Team USA. No matter how Team USA fares in the World Baseball Classsic, Wright’s performance is good...

Cliff Lee, Andy Pettitte Start As Phillies, Yankees Clash In Tampa

Roy Halladay was roughed up pretty bad in yesterday's 10-6 loss to Detroit. Halladay said after the game that his bad performance was not because of any soreness, but because he was feeling lethargic due to a new intense throwing program he has been doing. He topped out at 87...

Pitchers: Lost in translation no more

Major League Baseball has a new rule that allows interpreters to join managers and coaches on the mound when pitchers aren't fluent in English. Even though it has already been used in spring training, the rule might still need some tweaking. Asian players, like Yu Darvish, are routinely provided translators by their teams. But Latino players rarely receive the same benefit...
