Raise the Jolly Roger!:
Pirates (8-18-2) at Blue Jays (23-5)
1:05 PM EST–Florida Auto Exchange Stadium, Dunedin
TV: MLB.TV / Radio: 93.7
Here is the MLB.com Gameday
Here we are…the last spring game in Florida…right back at the site of the first one: good old Florida Auto Exchange Stadium. After competing in this wonderful venue, the Bucs will head north to Philly for two games before a workout on Pittsburgh Wednesday and then Opening Day on Thursday. We are SO CLOSE.
The Jays are 23-5 this spring. Wow.
A minor trade went down yesterday. The Pirates acquired young pitcher Robby Rowland from Arizona. In exchange, the DBacks will get to keep Brett Lorin. Arizona chose Lorin in the Rule 5 draft and isn’t going to put him on the big club, meaning he would’ve been sent back to Pittsburgh if not for this deal. Rowland was a third round pick and is just 20 with some decent upside, but hasn’t pitched well in rookie ball in his first two years as a pro.
As for today’s game, Jeff Karstens will start against Brandon Morrow.

The Pirates split up today. They were destroyed on the road by Minnesota and tied at home with Baltimore.
On the mound:
Erik Bedard pitched five innings vs. the Orioles and was decent. He allowed 4 runs, all in one inning on two consecutive homers. Other than that he was fine, though he only struck out two and walked two.
Kevin Correia was shelled by the Twins. 10 runs in 2.1 innings...

Today is the final home spring training game of the season. The Bucs face the Blue Jays on the road tomorrow, then head to Philly for two exhibition games up there before returning to Pittsburgh for Opening Day.

Being a Pirate fan is not easy. There are obvious reasons for this, with the primary one being that the Pirates are bad at baseball. They've been bad at baseball for just about as long as anyone can remember. Pirate fans that have suffered through 19 consecutive losing seasons have dealt with watching baseball games in a toilet bowl, the specter of the team moving, the inept...
First-round pick, seven years in the Toronto Blue Jays organization, and a grand total of 232 games, 28 home runs, 236 strikeouts and .248 batting average.
Snider who lost the battle for Jay’s starting leftfielder position, was optioned to Triple-A. This was Snider’s last option and this once “can’t miss prospect” will have to pass through waivers if he’s sent down...
Nate McLouth and Matt Hague homered and the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Toronto Blue Jays 3-1 on Sunday.
Michael McKenry singled before McLouth homered off Drew Carpenter with two outs in the eighth inning and sent it over the left field wall for a 2-1 lead.
Toronto starter Brandon Morrow allowed two hits in four innings and struck out four.
Matt Hague added his seventh spring...
One of the weaknesses of Top Prospect lists is that there has to be some limit to who is considered a prospect, which ends up excluding young guys who are not veterans, but also not prospects. Additionally, you don't get a chance to comment on guys who are in some unusual circumstance.Glaringly, there's little chance to say "watch this guy" when "this guy"...
The Phillies knocked off the Bucs tonight, 4-3.
At the plate:
Andrew McCutchen homered.
Garrett Jones doubled.
Pedro Alvarez went 0-for-3. No strikeouts though!
On the mound:
Tony Watson, Evan Meek, and Juan Cruz each allowed one run in one inning.
Joel Hanrahan, Chris Resop, and Jason Grilli all pitched a scoreless inning.

Spring record: 9-19-2
Pirates' corner infielder Casey McGehee got off to a slow start in Grapefruit League play, but is heating up at the plate as spring training draws to a close. McGehee is coming off a disappointing season in 2011, but he led the 2010 Fielder-Braun-Hart Brewers in RBI. McGehee told PiratesDugout.com's George Von Benko that he hopes to be a big contributor in Pittsburgh.
