Giancarlo Stanton homered for the first time this season but the result of the game was a 8-4 Miami Marlins loss at the hands of the Arizona Diamondbacks.   A day after a come from behind win, the offense went stagnant again only putting together four hits.   Arizona starter Wade Miley had a no hitter in the sixth inning and the Diamondbacks had a combined one hitter going until the ninth.   Miami is now 8-13 on the season.

Josh Johnson had a rough start that ended a team streak of quality starts at seven games.  The Marlins’ ace allowed five runs on ten hits in only five and one third  innings of work.    Johnson did strike out eight hitters while throwing 102 pitches to get through the start.    The loss was charged to Johnson who fell to 0-3 on the season to go along with a 5.34 E.R.A.    Mike Dunn struggled mightily in the sixth inning allowing three runs while only retiring two hitters.   Chad Gaudin continued his impressive season with two scoreless innings to mop things up and save an extra arm in the bullpen.   Edward Mujica appeared in the ninth for the first time since injuring his hand in New York last week.

Stanton’s three run blast came in the ninth inning with the Marlins down seven at the time.   It was a moonshot to center field that easily went over the wall in spacious Marlins Park.    The Marlins’ right-fielder was responsible for all four runs on the day.    The first of the day for Miami came in the sixth inning via a John Buck double with another double coming from Omar Infante in the ninth.  Logan Morrison added the fourth hit on the day for the fish.

The Marlins will try and split the series on Monday when Mark Buehrle takes on Patrick Corbin.
