Giancarlo Stanton’s fourth inning grand slam put the Miami Marlins ahead for good as they defeated the Colorado Rockies by a score of 7-4 on Monday.  The win moves the Marlins to four games over .500 for the first time on the year and also puts them alone in third place in the division.    Miami is now 15-5 in May as they continue to pace Major League Baseball for the month. Mark Buehrle looked like he would have a short outing after allowing four runs in the first inning.   That wasn’t the case however as the veteran went on to pitch into the eighth inning, retiring twelve in a row at one point.    Buehrle was credited with his fourth win of the season while allowing the four runs on five hits in seven and two third innings pitched.     Randy Choate finished off the eighth inning retiring the only batter he faced.  In the ninth, Heath Bell’s recent impressive streak continued with a scoreless inning for his sixth save of the season. Stanton’s long blast to left field came with the ...

Another milestone for Moyer: 50 ballparks

Colorado's Jamie Moyer has now pitched in 50 Major League ballparks. Moyer started for the Rockies in Miami on Monday night, making his debut at the newly opened Marlins Park. He's hobbled now, but Miami's Kearns has surprised Guillen

Austin Kearns of the Miami Marlins left Tuesday's game in the fourth inning with a tight right hamstring. He's day to day. Jamie Moyer is Old

Jamie Moyer - Pitcher, Hunter, and Gatherer Quite frankly, the “Jamie Moyer is old” meme has replaced the “Yadier Molina is slow” meme which was preceded by the “Adam Dunn whiffs a lot” meme.  At age 49, Moyer seems relatively old by Major League Baseball standards.  As such, the jokes and one-liners aimed at Moyer have practically gone viral at this point.  Examples...
