The International League announced their postseason All-Star rosters this week, and two Indianapolis Indians were named to the squad. Starling Marte and Tim Wood both received the honors, with Wood making the list for the second year in a row.
Marte hit for a .286/.347/.500 line in 388 at-bats with Indianapolis, before being promoted to the majors in late July. Prior to his promotion, the Pirates’ top hitting prospect was ranked in the top five in the International League in several categories. Even a month after being promoted he leads the league in triples (13) and is fourth in slugging percentage (.500).
This is the second year in a row that the Indians have sent an outfielder to the postseason All-Star team, with Alex Presley receiving the honors last year.
Tim Wood posted a 2.19 ERA in 70 innings this year, with a 67:23 K/BB ratio. He spent most of the year as the Indianapolis closer, recording 21 saves. This is the second straight appearance on the postseason squad for Wood, and he’s the first relief pitcher to make back-to-back IL postseason All-Star teams since the position was first included in 1978.
