There are still twoweeks left in spring training, but two observations are worth noting afterwatching the Dodgers and the Padres face off Wednesday in Glendale Ariz. One: Padres right-handerTim Stauffer looks ready to pitch the season opener April 5. Two: The Dodgersbullpen probably needs a little more work. Stauffer, alreadypenciled in as San Diegos starter against the Dodgers in the teams opener atPetco Park, was nothing short of impressive in his fourth spring appearance. Heworked a spring-high six shutout innings, giving up just three hits and retiringthe final 11 batters he faced. The Padres won the game 3-0. Dee Gordon had two ofthe hits off Stauffer, including a bunt single in the third. The Dodgersfinished with five hits against four San Diego pitchers. Stauffer, 9-12 lastseason, needed a good outing.
