Sure, it's several days old now, but since we breathlessly followed Stephen Strasburg's  exploits on the golf course during the offseason, including his near-miss hole-in-one and day at Trump National, we'd be remiss if we didn't post something about Stephen Strasburg's mini golf scorecard (above) which Stras Tweeted a picture of on Saturday. Apparently that 69 is an award winner. (via @Stras37, via DC Sports Bog) Befriend the Nats Enquirer on Facebook. Follow us on Twitter.

Jayson Werth hits own truck with home run ball

So...didja hear the one about the mammoth blast Jayson Werth hit Sunday?Well, as it turns out, the Washington Nationals outfielder hit his own truck with the first inning homer off New York Mets pitcher Matt Harvery."It just left a hole in the Earth where my truck used to be," Werth said of the estimated 492-foot moonshot that ricocheted off the front bumper of his pickup...

Jayson Werth seems to have bad luck with cars, trucks.

There's a photo of Jayson Werth's custom 2012 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 as seen in the players lot at Nationals Park at the end of last season (nice rims!). Fortunately for Werth, he can afford to drive a pickup truck (and not that ~$185,000 ride) to Spring Training games. Werth reportedly dented his truck with his own HR ball on Sunday at Space Coast Stadium: Jayson...

Finding Keepers: Washington Nationals

After years of mediocrity, the Washington Nationals are finally starting to generate some buzz. With young starters Stephen Strasburg and Jordan Zimmermann, the Nationals already have two of the better pitchers in the NL. Add to that the acquisition of Gio Gonzalez and many pundits are picking the Nationals to contend for the NL East title. But, will the hype reduce your chances...

Jayson Werth hit his own car with 492-foot home run

Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth hit a prodigious blast during his team’s spring training game Sunday, but there’s a twist that adds more intrigue to the story. According to a parking lot attendant, bartender, and two people dining at the Tiki bar beyond left field at Space Coast Stadium in Viera, Fl., the ball sailed over the fence, and carromed off a palm try onto the bumper...

Jayson Werth’s Quietly Robust Spring

The Washington Nationals have had their share of significant injuries this spring, most notably the offensive loss of Michael Morse and Adam LaRoche.  Both of those players may be ready, but it’s safe to assume that Werth’s offensive numbers may be critical to a successful 2012 season. The man with the beard struggled in 2011 to start the season, with the weight of a seven...

Jayson Werth hit a home run so far that it struck a vehicle in the parking lot—his own

Good: Jayson Werth hit a 492-foot blast during a spring training game against the Mets. Bad: the ball ended up reaching the parking lot and hitting a truck’s back bumper. Funny: the truck belonged to Werth himself.  What are the odds? What started out as only a rumor turned out to be true that Werth’s prodigious home run off Mets pitcher Matt Harvery struck the bumper of his...

Magic Johnson is a finalist to purchase the Dodgers

Others have stolen the spotlight in recent years, but Los Angeles is still Magic Johnson’s city, and he might have the city’s baseball team next. The former point guard for Showtime is part of a group that has been named a finalist by MLB owners in negotiations with current Los Angeles Dodgers owner, Frank McCourt. Johnson’s group also includes former Atlanta Braves and...

Depth: The Key to Starting the 2012 Season on a Good Foot

Despite the major changes made to the Washington Nationals’ roster during the off-season, the players have not proved this Spring Training that much has changed.  Opening the spring at 6-13, the offensive woes have not disappeared, while the pitching this past week has been atrocious.  Luckily for all of us, during Spring Training, batters and pitchers are usually working on...

The 2012 baseball season is officially underway and plenty of fantasy baseball drafts have yet to be completed.  Here’s one final piece of advice before you  begin dominating your league.   High Risk/High Reward Player I’m Targeting: Stephen Strasburg, SP, Washington Nationals   He’s coming off Tommy John surgery which, obviously, is the risk and will reportedly be held...
