In a surprise move today the Washington Nationals released starting pitcher John Patterson. It's a pretty shocking move as Patterson started Opening Day for the Nats last season and seemed to be the front runner for this years assignment. Patterson was experiencing a steep drop-off in his fastball so far in spring training. Thats just the sad state of their pitching staff, he was still the front runner. What's even more surprising to me
