After every series, we'll take stock of how each individual and group performance affects their overall value.

Offense

Mike Aviles: Mike didn't get the job done in the series. He did have a few hits, but couldn't get the offense sparked from the top spot.

Dustin Pedroia: Pedey has been looking good, and looked great in the first game. A couple of 1-fo-4's  to follow brought him back to where he was to start the series.

David Ortiz: Like the rest, he had a big game 1, but not-so-great games 2 and 3. His average dipped a little but it is not the start of a slump.

Adrian Gonzalez: Gonzo is making his way back. He battled Bruce Chen and came out on top with the 3-run double. He is hitting the ball well and the power will come with it.

Will Middlebrooks:  A monster game 1, followed by an early exit with a cramp, followed by an 0-for-4 performance. Is he coming back to earth? Not yet. We'll see more fireworks in the near future.

Cody Ross:  Currently standing at #6 in strikeouts among MLB batters. He swings and misses at too many bad pitches.

Kelly Shoppach:  You can't expect much more than the 2-for-9 show in the first 2 games. It the Shoppach show.

Marlon Byrd:  He did have a great series, going 5-for-11, but the error last night was the stand-out moment. Byrd has a solid glove and errors will not be a common occurrence.

The others: McDonald, Sweeney, Salty, and Punto all sucked.

Starting pitching

It wasn't all Lester's fault,  Doubront and Bard let a bad team get to them. I expected much more and a huge confidence boost.

Bullpen

Aside from the bomb given up by Albers, the pen held their ground. They have held it together and are getting better.

Managing

Bobby did what he had to do and the team was a let down. He tried shuffling the lineup and they still came up short. I'll be putting a little more blame on him if this continues.

Overall

They dropped the series to a very bad team. The Sox looked awful and are missing opportunities left and right. Time is running out to get their act together.
