Confirming what Sandy Alderson has said in two previous interviews, ‘“There is ‘zero’ chance Jason Bay will be released this winter or asked to compete for a job in spring training,” according to what a team source told Mike Puma of the New York Post.
“He’s a part of this team,” the source said.
Bay is due $16 million next season and has a $17 million team option with a $3 million buyout. The option wont happen. Good or bad, nest season will be his last with the Mets.
“I’ve played every day. I’ve not played every day,” Bay told Puma, in regards to serving in a different role next season. “I don’t know. I’ll do whatever I can.”
As I said about a month ago, Bay will be on this team on Opening Day.
