ST. LOUIS -- One man died and about 100 were injured Saturday when strong winds blew over a tent at a popular downtown sports bar near Busch Stadium. Sixteen people were transported to area hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to severe. At least four sustained critical injuries, and others were treated at the scene, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The man who died suffered a heart attack, according to the newspaper. It was not known if injuries from the collapse or shock from the event caused the heart attack. The incident occurred at about 3:50 p.m. at Kilroys Sports Bar when sudden storms entered the region about one hour after the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Milwaukee Brewers 7-3. Winds were estimated to be between 60 and 80 miles per hour at the time of the accident, according to witnesses at the scene. "I thought a train fell off the track," Kilroys owner Art Randall told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "We all ducked for cover. Everything was going sideways. I had metal chairs ripping across the beer garden."

St. Louis Cardinals lineup better with balance and without Pujols

The St. Louis Cardinals lost a huge part of their offense when Albert Pujols signed a 10-year, $240-million deal with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, but that also forced the team to build a more balanced lineup. Now every spot in the order consistently pushes across enough runs to put the Cardinals atop the NL Central as April comes to a close. But, the margin for error is much...

Cards run themselves into another tough loss

ST. LOUIS The Cardinals finished April with a 14-8 record and will be in first place when the calendar flips to May come Tuesday. But with that comes the sting of several losses similar to Sunday that kept them from having a potentially historic month. The Cardinals lost 3-2 to the Milwaukee Brewers Sunday, missing on a chance to sweep the division champs by running into the final...

Cardinals have moved on well minus Pujols

After their biggest stars left town this past offseason, the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers had plenty of doubters. That'll happen when two of the best hitters in baseball now, and maybe ever are no longer in your lineup. And despite signing other power hitters to try filling those enormous gaps, both teams had consented there was no replacing an Albert Pujols or...

Cardinals foiled on final play, beaten by Brewers

Jaime Garcia failed to get a bunt down, forgot to tag up and gave up one fat pitch. The St. Louis Cardinals' hitters shouldered their share of the blame, too, in a game that ended with a botched double steal. The Cardinals had 11 hits but were 2 for 14 with runners in scoring position and stranded 13 runners in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers, costing them a three...
