Found May 15, 2013 on New York Mets Report:
Terry Collins is a smart guy who made some pretty out-of-bounds comments Monday night. Some might even call them stupid. COLLINS: Spins into damage control. I leaned in that direction when I came down on Collins for ripping the fans in his response to a question on if the Mets were leaving Jordany Valdespin out to dry after his actions last weekend. “I don’t answer to fans,’’ Collins said reporters in St. Louis. “They don’t play this game. They have no idea what goes on. They have no idea what goes on in there. They have absolutely no idea what it means to be a professional teammate at this level.’’ Collins also went on to say he didn’t care about the perception of the Valdespin incident, ranging from the player celebrating his meaningless home run in a blowout loss, to the manager anticipating the payback plunking, to the player’s dugout tantrum. There’s no mistaking what Collins meant, but it should be noted this could have been alleviated had he danced around the question and lat...

Collins says fan sound-off was out of frustration

Mets manager Terry Collins apologized in a fashion, a day after criticizing New York fans who thought he hadn't defended one of his players. Collins says he regretted his choice of words. The Mets began Wednesday on a five-game losing streak and with seven losses in eight games, and the manager said his words were caused by frustration. Collins said Tuesday that he wasn'...

Terry Collins Calls Out Mets Fans

Looks like the frustration is rising to the top for Mets Manager Terry Collins as he spoke to the Media before the Mets-Cardinals game tonight. (1/2) Collins may have gone too far. Was just asked about Valdespinsituation. — Mike Kerwick (@mikekerwick) May 14, 2013 (2/2) Collins: “I don’t answer to fans. They don’t play this game. They have no idea what goes on in there....

Mets’ Terry Collins Blasts Fans

COLLINS LASHES AT FANS OVER VALDESPIN ISSUE Terry Collins did what no manager should do, especially one with a career losing record likely to be made a scapegoat for what figures to be the Mets’ fifth consecutive losing season. Collins, who has been erratic and puzzling on several issues this season, took on the exceedingly frustrated Mets’ fan base Tuesday night, basically...

Terry Collins Blasting Fans Is Not The Way To Go

Terry Collins did what no manager should do, especially one with a career losing record likely to be made a scapegoat for what figures to be the Mets’ fifth consecutive losing season. Collins, who has been erratic and puzzling on several issues this season, took on the exceedingly frustrated Mets’ fan base Tuesday night, basically calling them clueless and he didn’t care for...

Evan Roberts: "Ignorant Terry Collins' 42 years in MLB = '42 years of being a loser' and losing clubhouses"

Evan Roberts, emotionally and financially involved (i.e., the Mets, the Nets, et al.), can deliver a rant. (He can't fake them like Mike Francesa does.) So when the losing manager of a losing team... Full story at Bob's Blitz ~ http://www.bobsblitz.com

Terry Collins and platoon players

Creative and new ideas and solutions often seem to come along as a result of limitations.  Limitations are what forced Billy Beane and Paul DePodesta to architect ‘Moneyball’ in Oakland in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. After the rest of the league seemed to catch up with the A’s in the mid-2000’s, they came storming back with a vengeance last season, surprising everyone...

Collins Meant No Disrespect To Fans… Great, Now Go Win Some Games…

Updated by Joe D. at 6:30 PM After making inflammatory remarks against Met fans yesterday that rubbed many people including those in the organization the wrong way, Terry Collins acknowledged that he misspoke and took back some of the things he angrily said about Met fans while a guest on WFAN today. “The New York fans are maybe the most knowledgeable fans that I’ve ever been...

Mike Francesa treaded lightly on Terry Collins

Time to End the Collins Era and Bring On Backman

The Terry Collins era was always going to go down as the bridge to brighter days. How else could you explain Sandy Alderson making Collins his first manager with the track record he possessed three years ago? Collins oversaw teams collapse in Houston and Anaheim, with the latter resulting in a mutiny. He was well-placed as a minor-league field coordinator, and could still be valuable...

MTR Nightcap 5-14-13 Hour 2

John Corrie sat in for Dovid Dobin and in Hour 2 it began with Dylan Murphy from www.postingandtoasting.com as he also helped me breakdown Game 4 Knicks/Pacers in another fun spot. I also talked some baseball as well with the Yanks come from behind win and the Phillies 3rd straight win being overshadowed (From my perspective) by the disaster that is Terry Collins’ NY Mets ...

Alderson Needs To Take Action Now On Distractions

We are getting perilously close to the time in the baseball season where free-falling clubs tend to fire their manager. Should the Mets sack Terry Collins in the wake of his ripping the fans – who by the way, aren’t coming out to Citi Field these days – they can claim justifiability, but would be making a mistake. Like many quick-fixes, it will not work. Despite Collins...

The Mets Were Built To Fail, They Really Have No Plan Says One NL Official

Bob Klapisch of The Record, posted a strong rebuke of the current Mets team and says that the team was “built to fail.” “Niese’s masterpiece aside, the Mets have been careening toward disaster for most of May and are now on pace for 100 losses. No one should be surprised; this roster has been badly flawed from the outset. Still, it’s disturbing how quickly the season has...
