The Texas Rangers have ensured three key pieces to the team’s consecutive World Series trips will stick around for at least one more season. On Monday, Rangers outfielder David Murphy and relievers Mark Lowe and Mike Adams each agreed to new contracts with the team. For whatever reason, Murphy’s new deal is only for one year and worth $3.625 million. The Rangers need the consistent hitter around to make more World Series trips in the near future, so only giving him a one-year deal is puzzling. Texas also retained newly acquired reliever Mike Adams on Monday, signing him to a one-year, $4.4 million contract. The Rangers brought in Adams in a trade with the San Diego Padres in 2011. After arriving in Texas, Adams went 2-3 with a 2.10 ERA while striking out 25 and walking five.
