MLB Injury News:
Yes, it's true, the Rangers have signed former Red Sox, Indian, Dodger, Ray and White Sox outfielder Manny Ramirez. It is a move that sent shock waves through the MLB media and rightfully so. Ramirez was thought to be done in the MLB after he went overseas and signed with a team in Taiwan.
The Rangers signed Manny Ramirez to a minor-league deal, according to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News.

Judging by Grant's reaction, he seemed shocked and for good reason, too. When you're done wondering "wow, the Rangers signed Manny Ramirez. Wait, that Manny Ramirez?" You have to wonder, why did the Rangers sign Manny? Easy. He is a low risk, high reward investment. He signed a minor-league deal, likely for little money and has proven to be one of the games' best hitters. Another thing that may have sparked the Rangers' interest is the injury to Craig Gentry. He is hitting .216 with one home run and nine RBI's. His stats aren't that impressive, but let me explain why the Rangers did this. The Rangers, when Gentry went down, lost one of their right-handed hitters. With Gentry going down, the Rangers had a need for a right-handed hitter and found one with Manny Ramirez. While he signed a minor-league deal with the Rangers, if he plays well for them, don't be surprised to see the Rangers call him up.
Personally, I think this is a brilliant move for the Rangers. As I said before, he is a low risk, high reward type of player. Sure, he hasn't seen big league pitching for a couple of years now, but he has the talent to succeed right now. Ramirez can have a serious impact for the Rangers, if he gets called up. He was one of the games premiere hitters, so if he can be half the player he used to be, the Rangers got a steal. The move could turn out to be a bust, but it wouldn't be a huge loss for the them.
