Niese, (10-8 3.55), slots in very nicely as the Mets 3rd starter for 2013 Jon Niese, 25, is enjoying the best season of his young career. He has grown and developed into a more complete pitcher as he looks to wrap up his 3rd full season in the Majors. He is beginning to look like a very solid rotation option for us going forward. Niese is potentially on his way to setting career highs in innings pitched, wins, strikeouts, and ERA. He has drastically improved his WHIP, which sat in the 1.40 range his first two seasons, and currently sits at 1.17.  His ERA has dipped almost a full run from his first full season from 4.20 to 3.55. He is working on finishing the season strong, which is something he has failed to do over the past two seasons, as either limped to the finish with an injury, or became worn down. In 2008, Niese came into the league as a starter with mediocre potential. He was one of our better pitching prospects at the time, but that is not saying much when our top guys in t...

Mike Pelfrey surfaced on the Mets’ radar yesterday when he showed up in St. Louis to participate in the team’s fantasy football draft. Pelfrey was shelved almost immediately and underwent Tommy John surgery, May 1. Most likely, he’ll be non-tendered in December because he’s arbitration eligible and made $5.6875 million this season. The rules state players must make at least...

Keith Hernandez Reportedly Considering Shaving His Trademark Mustache Before Final Mets Game of Year

In an affront to fans of the fine art of mustaches, Keith Hernandez is considering shaving his trademark 'stache. New York Mets Month in Review: August

The month of August was an up and down one for the New York Mets. Their putrid performance in July already put them well out of playoff contention and going into the month they were only playing for pride. The middle of the month brought us the “rock bottom” portion of the 2012 season, but the team has come together to close the month on a high note and give Met fans some optimism...

Mets Dealt A 5-1 Loss By The Redbirds

The Mets (64-72) lost to the Cardinals (74-62) by the score of 5-1 on Tuesday evening at Busch Stadium. 0-14 with RISP so far this series will win you no games. Harvey was the man on the mound for the Mets and looked like he was uncomfortable out there. Although, admittedly, the only Met that looked comfortable pitching out there tonight was Familia. Harvey got through five innings...
