The Mets have nine players taking part in this year’s Arizona Fall League, which kicked off yesterday.
RHP Collin McHugh started for Peoria yesterday and let up three runs on five hits and a walk in two innings. ”Not the best start to my AFL season, but definitely not the worst,” McHugh said after the game on Twitter. “I’m healthy, getting groundballs, and throwing strikes.”
In relief of McHugh, Mets RHP Erik Turgeon allowed a run in one inning, after which LHP Robert Carson allowed a run in 1 1/3 innings. Meanwhile, Mets SS Wilfredo Tovar went 0-for-4, while playing second base.
In a post to Mets Minor League Blog, Toby Hyde says:
“The pitch-fx star of the day was Robert Carson who sat 92-95 with his fastball and hit 96 once. He threw 63% of his pitches for strikes (22 of 34).”
