Found April 25, 2012 on SF Lunatic Fringe:

Don’t laugh.  The San Francisco Giants have drafted five players from Coastal Carolina University since 2005, and eight in their history.  Yes, that’s a lot when you’re talking about a relatively small school.

One of them was Kirt Manwaring.  (2nd round, 31st overall.  Also, the highest-drafted player ever from CCU).  The others…well, I’m not so certain you’ll ever know them.  Nor will they have such great names (though Austin Fleet ain’t a bad baseball name).

Just saying…

Bruce Bochy Wastes Another Strong Barry Zito Outing

There’s no getting around the fact that Bruce Bochy has done a terrible job managing these past several games, especially when it’s come to handling his pitchers. Consider… 4/21: With the game tied at one, Ryan Vogelsong at 95 pitches, and a runner in scoring position, Bochy left Vogelsong in the game. Vogelsong struck out, and then allowed a couple runs in the seventh inning...

Giants Place Aubrey Huff on 15-Day DL, Call Up Joaquin Arias

According to Hank Schulman, Aubrey Huff has been placed on the 15-day DL with anxiety disorder, for which he is currently getting treatment. He’s already missed the past few games, and it’s looking like this will open the door for both Nate Schierholtz and Brandon Belt to be in the starting lineup on a regular basis. As for Huff, this kind of problem is no fun, and one can only...

Giants put Huff on DL with anxiety issues

The San Francisco Giants put Aubrey Huff on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday while he received treatment for an anxiety attack. Huff left the team in New York over the weekend after struggling at the plate and in the field. The Giants originally said he had a family emergency. Manager Bruce Bochy said on Wednesday that Huff is getting treatment for anxiety. He is expected to...

Aaron Rowand gets a custom chopper bike from American Chopper

Here is a video of former San Francisco Giant Aaron Rowand on the TV show "American Chopper." Rowand says he plays baseball for the Miami Marlins but he was released before the season started.I guess this is how Rowand is spending some of  the $12 million that he is owed this year by the Giants. It must be nice to make that much money for doing nothing. The Giants released...

SF Giants Rumors: Huff MIA, Sandoval Streak, Sanchez Rehab, Winning Ways Continue

Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle said Aubrey Huff left the team yesterday for family reasons. Manager Bruce Bochy does expect Huff to join the team in Cincinnati today.   The Kung Fu Panda (Pablo Sandoval) had a hit in each game of the double header yesterday to tie the San Francisco Giants record for a 16 game hitting streak to start a season. That record was held...

Giants' Huff lands on DL due to anxiety attacks

Without Aubrey Huff, the San Francisco Giants are trying to focus on baseball and move forward, and manager Bruce Bochy likely will play Brandon Belt and Brett Pill more at first base. Huff was placed on the 15-day disabled list before Wednesday's 4-2 loss in Cincinnati because he's dealing with anxiety attacks, Bochy said. The 35-year-old veteran didn't show up to...

Life Outplays Baseball for Aubrey Huff

No one can know what professional athletes go through to achieve the highest level in any sport. It obviously includes the history of their formative lives, having extraordinary talent and brining complete commitment. Squared. And sometimes, even all that is not enough. On Monday April 23, Aubrey Huff of the San Francisco Giants mysteriously left the team for what was termed a “family...

Pa-GONE!!!!

On some day late in Spring or early in the regular season (sooooo lazy), Julian (@GiantsNirvana) tweeted something that looked like this: “On a scale of 1-10, the amount I’m worried about Angel Pagan: 0” Julian’s faith restored my own, reminding me that Angel Pagan has started slowly before and would be just fine as the Giants’ starting center fielder. Fine, indeed. Pagan’s...

A Headspoon For The Road

There are things to love about uniform changes, and things to hate.  The ‘Headspoon’ on the Giants’ main road jersey is something I hate. Honestly, they aren’t the worst thing in the world on their own.  They can look pretty good in the right circumstances.  But on this uniform, it’s terrible because of how it breaks up the words ‘San Francisco’ on the front.  The...

Giants Win, Never Have to Go Back to Cincinnati Again (Hopefully)

Well this was a game that had a little bit of everything.  The Giants went down 2-0 early only to come back and score two runs of their own.  Then they went down 4-2 and scratched and clawed to get back within one run.  Then Scott Rolen,  he of the sub-Mendoza Line batting average in late April homered for the second time in the series and things felt like they’d been Cincinnati’d...

Pitching Matches Hitting as the Giants Start to Click

Look What’s HappenedThe San Francisco Giants have won five of their first six series to start the 2012 season, culminating in physically muscling 3 out of 4 games against the New York Mets in delightful Citi Field this past weekend. Three developments early on in the current campaign bode extremely well for San Francisco, and not so good for the rest of the National League.1. This...

Quality Starts and Quality Starts Plus (QS+) with No Decisions/Losses 4/16 – 4/22

Another week has passed in the MLB and one of the most amazing Quality Start No Decision performances ever from a pitcher... errr... PITCHERS took place, which can only help to bolster my case that fantasy baseball websites should find a way to reward a pitcher quality start that results in a loss or no decision. Last Wednesday, against the San Francisco Giants, Cliff Lee tossed...

3 Up & 3 Down: The San Francisco Treat Edition

The Mets just wound up a four game weekend wrap-around series with the San Francisco Giants, winning only one of the four games. Sunday’s edition of Rain Out Theater, prompted a double-header on Monday night, with the Giants sweeping both games from the Mets. One would think with 36 plus innings of baseball played between these teams, 3 Ups would be easy, but the Mets were something...
