So Brandon Inge is a Detroit Tiger no more. Either he will become a very high priced player for the Toledo Mud Hens, or if the Tigers chose to eat some of his salary, he could wind up somewhere else. We know for sure that the Florida Marlins have some interest.   Brandon was the longest serving Tigers player on the active roster. He has been in Detroit since he was drafted in the 1998 draft as a short stop. He switched to Cather because that was he best bet to rise to the big club. He finally made it there during the 2001 season, and became a mainstay of the big club roster in 2002.   He was teh full time catcher for the disastrous 2003 team, and lost his catching job when the Tigers traded for Ivan Rodriguez before teh 2004 season. This is where Inge started to go wrong in my eyes, but maybe it was not all his fault.   As a pro, he was put in a real bad position.   • Standards determine who gets fielded. If you have no team standards you can not expect to win. Those that fall below, do it to themselves - nice guy or not. What is your acceptable standard for a batting average ? Tigers were more than generous trying to get him going and finally the boo-birds got irate. If he does have a comeback it probably will be in the National League. Detroit needs a George Brett or a Mike Schmitt on third.
