There is not one team in Major League Baseball that improved as much as the Atlanta Braves have at the two trade deadlines in the majors this season. (The Texas Rangers improved their team tremendously, but not as much as the Braves have) Yesterday was the end of the waiver trade deadline and there will be no other deals made until the General Manager meetings or Winter Meetings. The Braves made two separate deals that upgraded the final pieces of their team that needed help. They added Matt Diaz from the Pittsburgh Pirates and Jack Wilson from the Seattle Mariners. These are not flashy trades or sexy trades. The Braves did not need flashy or sexy trades, however. They had two glaring holes on their team: 1. a right-handed, pinch-hitter that can hit left-handed pitching well and 2. a solid utility player that can back up Alex Gonzalez and hit a little bit off the bench, but primarily play good defense at multiple positions. Enter Matt Diaz and his .306/.350/.370 line agains...
