Baseball’s superstars are what make the game fun.  They are often credited for a team’s success and blamed for a loss, but the fact of the matter is that the best players have similar impact as the rest of the guys in the lineup and in their respective rotations.  Baseball is not the NBA wherein usage rates for the games’ best players frequently goes above 40%.  Michael Jordan and Lebron touch the ball on most of their teams possessions throughout a season, but Justin Verlander started just three more games than Brad Penny for the Tigers last year.  You see where I’m going here.  We know that the best players on a given team really help that team and WAR tells us just how much. For every Mike Trout, who has helped his team win games, there is a Jeff Francouer who has hurt his team.  So what would the standings look like if the worst player on every team were replaced by that mythical replacement player? So without further ado I give you the results of my Brent Morel Experiment.  It’...

Adam Dunn Crushes Monster 469-Foot Home Run Off of His Own Face on Scoreboard (Video)

Adam Dunn's resurgent season continued Monday night in a gargantuan way. The Chicago White Sox slugger's most important home run in what would end up being a loss to the Toronto Blue Jays was his game-tying shot in the ninth inning. The homer that everyone should be talking about, though, came earlier in the game. Dunn clobbered a round-tripper in the fourth inning that went...

White Sox 1B Konerko passes post-concussion tests

Chicago White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko has cleared a battery of post-concussion tests and will resume physical activity on Tuesday. Konerko did not accompany the AL Central leaders to Toronto for a series that opened Monday night. Konerko was placed on the 7-day disabled list last Friday, three days after being accidentally elbowed in the head by Kansas City's Jarrod...

A.J. Pierzynski scores on grounder from first base as A's forget to cover bases (Video)

Chicago White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski scored on a groundout from first base after the Oakland A's infield left some bases unconvered during the seventh inning of Sunday's MLB game at U.S. Cellular Field. Your browser does not support iframes. With Pierzynski on first, White Sox batter Alexei Ramirez hit a routine grounder to A's shortstop Cliff Pennington. ...

Kevin Youkilis goes into stands for sweet catch

Although Kevin Youkilis is known more for his bat that his glove, he flashed some excellent leather on Tuesday night at Rogers Centre against the Blue Jays. Youkilis made an inning ending catch in foul territory in the second inning on a foul ball hit hit by David Cooper. The White Sox third baseman tracked down the ball as it was headed towards the third base stands, and made the...

Konerko gets cleared to resume physical activity

The Chicago White Sox's lineup just doesn't look the same when the team captain is out of it. That was evident once again Monday night, as Chicago struggled to score runs in the 3-2, 11-inning loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. That meant Adam Dunn carrying the load with two solo homers, but having to play first base with Paul Konerko out. That meant catcher A.J. Pierzynski...

White Sox 9, Blue Jays 5

Adam Dunn hit his major league-leading 34th home run, Dayan Viciedo and DeWayne Wise also connected and the Chicago White Sox beat the Blue Jays 9-5 on Wednesday night, posting consecutive victories in Toronto for the first time in six years. Gavin Floyd pitched six innings to snap a three-start winless streak as the White Sox won back-to-back games north of the border for the first...

RotoWire MLB Depth Chart Analysis

Rather than discuss the merits of the White Sox's temporary carousel at designated hitter (A.J. Pierzynski and Dayan Viciedo should see the bulk of the time there with Adam Dunn subbing at first), I thought it might be more interesting/useful to take a more macro look at the rest of the season. More specifically, which parks have been the best and worst for hitters of both hands...

Blue Jays 3, White Sox 2(11)

David Cooper singled home the winning run in the 11th inning as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Chicago White Sox 3-2 on Monday night. Rajai Davis popped out to open the 11th before left-hander Leyson Septimo came on to replace Jesse Crain. After Septimo (0-2) walked Johnson on four pitches, White Sox manager Robin Ventura brought in Nate Jones to face Edwin Encarnacion, whose single...
