After losing 2 of 3 to the Phillies the Bombers rebounded today by blowing out the Rangers by the score of 11-1 while piling up 19 hits in a big offensive onslaught that saw the first 4 batters get hits to start the Bombing run. The offensive leaders today were:
Damon who scored 3 runs,
A-Rod who had 5 hits,
A-Rod with 4 RBIs,
The Bombers had no homers today despite the score and even with 11 runs still left 21 on base!
In the field the Yankees were perfect with no errors.
The staff did a great job today allowing just 1 run on 4 hits with the starter Hughes 3-2 5.16 throwing 8 excellent inning of no-run, 3 hits, 1 walk and 6 Ks. Aceves then came out for a inning and allowed a run on a homer before getting the Rangers out. A excellent job by the Bombers in beating a offensive juggernaut the first place Texas Rangers.
While deeply disappointed in the outcome of the Phillies series I am happy to see this game for they bounced back nicely from yesterday's loss. But, I am still waiting for them to get out there and play steady ball against the best that can be thrown at them. Perhaps this is a step towards achieving that.
This win puts the 2nd place Yankees at 26-19 .578 -1. Tomorrow night at 8:05 pm ET the Yanks will take on the Rangers again. The starters will be Chamberlain 2-1 3.70 vs. Millwood 4-4 3.12.
Lets hope the Yankees can finally sweep a first place team in this series for ti would be a huge step towards building for the ultimate goal this season. GO YANKEES!!!!
