Do any of you really care how Alfredo Amezaga is doing? I don't.
Junior Lake went 2-4 with a double. Nobody else did ****.
Peoria played a 14 inning **** fest that was highlighted by Yao Ling Wang's continuing dominance on the mound. Last night Wang struck out 10 batters over 6 IP allowing only a solo HR. Wang now has 68 K's in 57.1 IP and is holding opponents to a .218 BA. He is now our top pitching prospect imho.
Gioskar Amaya can do it all. Last night he stole home for his 11th steal of the year in addition to going 1-3 with a BB. On the power side Dan Vogelbach hit his 3rd HR in as many days and in my opinion should be a top 100 prospect heading into next year. If you are a bat only 1B you have to really hit to matter and Vogelbach has certainly done that as he has 11 HR's in 157 pro AB's. Rock Shoulders hit a grand slam out of the entire stadium last night which is also cool.
Dillon Maples struck out 3 batters in ...

Arodys Vizcaino is planning to be ready by spring training.
On Tuesday, Vizcaino was at Petco Park to work out for pitching coach Chris Bosio and meet the staff. He won't make his Cubs debut this season, having undergone Tommy John surgery in March.
Vizcaino will continue his rehab in Mesa, Ariz., at the Cubs complex.
"I'm going to be ready next year in Spring Training...
David Bote reached base four times on two RBI doubles, a single, and a walk, and Shawon Dunston Jr tripled, singled, scored two runs, and drove-in another, leading the AZL Cubs to a 5-2 victory over the AZL Dodgers in Arizona League action tonight at HoHoKam Park in Mesa.
Cubs 1st round draft pick Albert Almora and Cuban mega-defector Jorge Soler went a combined 1-8...
It's always been my favorite play, the play at the plate.
When Starlin Castro blasted one off the wall with Darwin Barney on 2nd and Anthony Rizzo on first, you knew it was gonna happen. Not really that big an explosion, but if I'm Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco I'd be thinking about lots of stuff including Rizzo's size, the collision that's about to happen, holding...
Garza said his goal is to get back on the mound this season, despite there being no official timetable on his return.
"I'm hoping," Garza said. "That's why I'm working my tail off. Doing everything I can."
Garza hasn't pitched since he left his July 21 outing after three innings because of cramping in his right triceps. He threw a bullpen session...
Anthony Rizzo and Ben Revere gave an interview to David Laurila of Fangraphs.
“What I learned [last year] is that it’s the same game. Pitchers aren’t throwing any pitches I haven’t seen before, so I have to just keep it simple.
“I don’t think I necessarily tried to hit any differently [in Petco Park]. Maybe subconsciously I started to, but mostly I wasn’t keeping it...
The Chicago Cubs have officially launched their rebuilding process, with the call-ups of many key pieces. Despite the current team's tremendous struggles, the season is beginning to get interesting as Cub fans fancy the future.
Matt Szczur had a big game hitting 1-3 with a HR, BB and SB. Jae Hoon Ha is back from a scary head injury and walked 4 times which is nice to see. Nick Struck worked 7 innings and struck out 7 batters and Lendy Castillo worked 1 inning in his continuing recovery from a ******** made up injury.

John Andreoli stole his 49th base of the year. Rob...
I was checking out Starlin Castro's disappointing offensive season on Fangraphs and thought I'd check to see where the Cubs rank offensively as a team. I didn't realize it had gotten so ugly. Their 77 wRC+ is dead last behind the Mariners at 81. The two offense's may actually be equal if we eliminated the pitcher in the NL, but that's too much work and I don...
CHICAGO (AP) -- Alfonso Soriano hit a go-ahead homer in the eighth inning and the Chicago Cubs snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 5-3 win over the slumping Cincinnati Reds on a rain-soaked Thursday night.
With the score tied at 3, Reds reliever Sean Marshall (4-4) walked Anthony Rizzo. Just as the skies cleared up, Soriano cracked a two-run shot to center field off Logan...

Ben Revere and Anthony Rizzo are distinctly different hitters, but they have a few things in common. Most notable is the fact that they are rising stars: Revere with the Minnesota Twins; Rizzo with the Chicago Cubs. Another is that they each credit a minor-league hitting coach for helping them turn the corner.
Revere, a 24-year-old outfielder, is following up a so-so rookie campaign...
A National League Central showdown will be on display this weekend at Wrigley Field as the fifth-place Chicago Cubs (43-66) play host to the division-leading Reds (66-45) beginning on Thursday night. Here's a breakdown of everything you need to know to get you prepped and ready:+ Game times for the 4-game set are as follows: Thursday (8:05et), Friday (2:20et), Saturday (4...
Riding an eight game losing streak and consecutive sweeps on the west coast, the Cubs continue their upset bid to take the number one pick away from the Houston Astros. The Reds, meanwhile, are two and a half games ahead of the Cardinals and the still hanging in there Buccos. For all the slagging I like to do on the Reds pitching staff, they've allowed the fewest runs in the...
The victory was hard earned indeed
As losers of five straight games entering their contest with the Cubs (44-67) on Friday, the visiting Redlegs (66-46) were in desperate need of a win. Well, it wasn't pretty but a win is exactly what they got by edging out the Cubbies, 10-8, in a wild one at Wrigley Field.
Chicago drew first blood after scratching a run across in the...
