I've been after a Trevor Bauer auto for quite some time, as he's one of the best prospects to ever come out of my Alma mater, UCLA. While I really wanted his signature, I wasn't after just any Bauer John Hancock. I've had one in mind since first seeing it and becoming aware of its existence, and after many months, I finally took the hard-signed plunge into the blue beyond.Numbered 16/99 and featuring the most awesome inscription on a card I've ever seen - "kgang" - it hails from 2011 Leaf Draft and is the blue parallel /99, which is apropos considering Bauer was a Bruin. The beautiful blue hue of the background shows up much, much better in the scan than it does in-hand.

No deals yet, but Towers making the rounds

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Justin Upton might have been the most discussed Diamondback on the internet and in the winding Opryland hotel hallways as the winter meetings officially opened Monday, but he was not the most popular D-back in trade discussions, general manager Kevin Towers said. Who was? Towers would notto go there. Trevor Bauer? Gerardo Parra? It is not fair to speculate, and...

Upton remains in play, but it's complicated

NASHVILLE Kevin Towers may have started a trend when he united Oakland and Florida in the three-team trade Oct. 20 that brought Heath Bell to the Diamondbacks, got cash relief for the Marlins and sent Chris Young to the As. Multi is the new normal. How many trade balls are in the air? Right now? Towers said late Tuesday afternoon. Probably more than I have hands. But I have...

Brad Bergesen headed to Japan to play for Chunichi Dragons

The Arizona Diamondbacks have sold the rights of right handed pitcher Brad Bergesen to the Chunichi Dragons. The Dragons play in Japan’s Central League and will welcome the 27-year-old who has appeared in 102 games for the Diamondbacks and Baltimore Orioles. Bergesen has a 4.61 ERA in the major leagues to go along with a 1.39 ERA and a 19-25 record. Claimed off waivers by the Diamondbacks...

MLB Trade Rumors: Indians and Diamondbacks Talking Cabrera, Trevor Bauer

Looking to add quality arms to a rotation in dire need of such, the Cleveland Indians are reportedly in talks with the Arizona Diamondbacks, discussing a deal that could ultimately net them Trevor Bauer, a highly touted right-handed prospect. The price: All-Star shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera. MLB.com’s Anthony Castrovince reports that the two teams have been in talks about the potential...

Could DBacks trade Kubel and keep Upton?

Much of the offseason trade speculation involving the Arizona Diamondbacks has centered on right fielder Justin Upton. But sources told FOXSports.com late Monday that the team has had at least as much trade dialogue in recent days about outfielder Jason Kubel. Kubel spent his entire career in the American League until signing with the Diamondbacks before this season, and he would...

D-backs sign Chavez, Nieves to bolster bench

NASHVILLE While blockbuster rumors swirled, the Diamondbacks tidied up their bench and catching situations Wednesday, signing free agent veterans Eric Chavez and Wil Nieves to fill reserve roles at third base and catcher.Chavez, who would figure to get most of his at-bats against right-handers while spelling Chris Johnson at third, signed a one-year, 3 million contract. He hit 16...

Phillies, Diamondbacks talking about a Justin Upton-Cliff Lee swap?

We have a new, crazy rumor in relation to Justin Upton. The Phillies and Diamondbacks are reportedly discussing a swap that would send Upton to the Phillies for oft-traded starting pitcher Cliff Lee (and likely, a giant pile of cash as well). The prevailing logic is that the Diamondbacks would then move Lee to another team in exchange for the shortstop they desire. Other sources...

Report: Chavez, Diamondbacks agree on 1-year deal

The Arizona Diamondbacks have come to terms with infielder Eric Chavez on a one-year contract. The deal is worth $3 million, according to reports, and is contingent upon Chavez passing a physical. Chavez, 34, split time last season between first and third base and designated hitter for the New York Yankees. He hit .281 with 16 homers in 278 at-bats. Injuries have limited his...

Three-team Upton trade not close to completion

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Arizona Diamondbacks, Cleveland Indians and Texas Rangers worked on a potential three-team trade throughout most of the day Wednesday. However, a major league source with direct knowledge of the talks told The Sports Xchange that a deal is unlikely to get done before the Winter Meetings end Thursday morning at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Resort. "...

Diamondbacks Sign Eric Chavez

The third base market continues to clear. Eric Chavez is now off the market, as the Diamondbacks signed the veteran to a one-year, $3 million deal Wednesday. As the contract suggests, Chavez is unlikely to be a full-time player in Arizona. However, given the myriad struggles the club experienced at third base last season, we can expect Chavez to play a significant role. He hit .281...
