The Detroit Tigers take on the Cleveland Indians in a 3 game series starting tonight. The Tigers will be sending Max Scherzer to the mound, he hasn’t lost a game yet this season and the Tigers have to be hoping that his great pitching continues. The Tigers always have a hard time with the Cleveland Indians. This season the Indians have been red-hot. Detroit only holds a 1-1/2 game lead in the A.L. Central over the Indians and the Indians offense can change the complexion of a game in a single at bat. Scherzer is going to have to have his good stuff tonight. If he makes any mistakes, this Indians offense will make him pay quickly. The Indians have a way of exposing good pitchers in the 2013 season. Could Scherzer be the exception? This Indians offense is loaded with power. At anytime this team can light it up offensively. The Tigers pitching staff is going to have to bring their good stuff all weekend if Detroit intends to remain in first place in the A.L. Central. This series does...

With a 10-4 win in the opener of their weekend series with the Indians on Friday night in Detroit, the Tigers handed Cleveland a sharp dose of reality and snapped the Tribe’s four-game winning streak in the process. Led by starter Max Scherzer and resident Detroit sluggers Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder, the Tigers
Max Scherzer remains undefeated this season. He pitched another great game for the Tigers against the Indians last night. Scherzer pitched 8 solid innings, he gave up 5 hits and 4 runs on his way to his 5th win on the season. He worked 8 good innings striking out 7 hitters. Scherzer is having a great season so far. He has a 3.61 ERA and 61 strike outs to go along with his 5 wins...

Miguel Cabrera is a few homers off the league-leading pace in the American League, but there is not a hitter in baseball damaging opposing pitchers like the Detroit Tigers’ third baseman has so far this season.
Cabrera bombed a three-run homer in the fourth inning Friday against the Cleveland Indians, his seventh long ball of the year to...
DETROIT Home runs can be magic, and this one certainly was.
Prince Fielder hit a majestic, 460-foot solo shot off the brick wall well beyond the scoreboard in right-center field Friday night. The third-inning blast was foreshadowed by Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona while speaking to reporters before the game.
And the ball from the prodigious swat -- the sixth-longest...
DETROIT (AP) -- Prince Fielder and Miguel Cabrera each hit a long home run, and the Detroit Tigers beat the Cleveland Indians 10-4 on Friday night.
The Tigers scored three runs in the second and three more in the fourth. Fielder's third-inning solo shot landed just below the No. 42 honoring Jackie Robinson on the brick facade beyond the wall in right-center field, giving Detroit...
Detroit Tigers, 19-12, 1st Place (1.5 ahead of KC).
This afterevening the Tigers make up their rained out game from Tuesday, as they play the plasticine game in the two-game season series against the Washington Nationals.
I predict that the Nationals will strike early, and score maybe three runs in the first.
Many have touted this series as a World Series preview. I hope not; I’ve...
Where’s my cake T?
Tigers slugger Prince Fielder turned 29 today. The Tigers are hot and they sit in first place in the AL Central. If this team is going to get back to the World Series, it’s going to happen through the efforts of Miguel Cabrera and today’s birthday boy. Check out FamousBirthdays.com for more.-TO

When the upstart Cleveland Indians visit the Detroit Tigers tonight for the first time in 2013, their lineup will be packing a very familiar, polarizing face.
Ryan Raburn, who struggled to stick in Detroit’s lineup and often failed at the plate and in the field when he did, seems to have completely rejuvenated his career early this season. A change of scenery was...
DETROIT -- After quite a few good games, the Indians simply didnt have it Friday night in the series opener against the Tigers.Or at least starting pitcher Corey Kluber didnt. And when the starting pitcher doesnt have it, it makes it tough -- especially against a lineup as relentless and formidable as Detroits. The Tigers provide no breathers, and they took advantage of Klubers struggles...
The sports birthdays for May 9 include former NL Cy Young award winner Brandon Webb, one of the greatest pure hitters of All-Time in Tony Gwynn, Prince Fielder (who’s first commercial was for McDonald’s with his Dad when he was a little tike), an NHL great in Steve Yzerman, and former goon Tony Twist.
Despite the lofty accomplishments of many of those players it was Doug Christie...
All offseason long, Tribe fans heard about that team up north.
Last year the Detroit Tigers were not only the reigning American League Central Division Champions, but won the AL Pennant for the second time in the last seven years. Although they were swept by the San Francisco Giants in the World Series, Detroit has continued to be one of the best teams in the league, averaging 92...
Having won 10 of 11 and fresh off a four game sweep of Oakland, the Tribe headed north to the Motor City looking to stay hot for a weekend series against the AL Central leading Tigers. The Tigers however wanted no part of succumbing to the Indians’ winning ways and thumped the Tribe 10-4 with Max Scherzer getting the win and Corey Kluber picking up the loss.
The Indians jumped...
Anibal Sanchez is a bad dude. This is the same man who struck out 16 Atlanta Braves a few Fridays ago.
But when there is big game to be hunted, Bryce Harper picks up his elephant gun and goes to work. Harper hit a majestic blast to right-center off Sanchez and drove in another on a sacrifice fly in the Nationals 3-1 victory over the Tigers.
The home run was Harper’s 10th of the season.

Coming off another impressive performance last weekend, the Detroit Tigers' Max Scherzer appears to be at the top of his game.
So do the AL Central rival Cleveland Indians, who could become all the more formidable with Michael Bourn back atop their lineup.
Looking to win a fourth consecutive start and stay unbeaten, Scherzer tries to slow down the surging Indians in the opener...
