True to their city, the Los Angeles Dodgers opened the 2013 season with a bit of Hollywood theatrics. Following the star-studded intro video, team owner Magic Johnson stood on the mound waiting to throw the ceremonial first pitch to Orel Hershiser (the 1988 Dodgers were being honored before the game) when manager Don Mattingly came out to the mound to talk thing over with his boss. Mattingly called for the lefty, and none other than the legendary Sandy Koufax strode out to the mound and finally delivered the first pitch. The Dodgers went on to beat the rival Giants 4-0 behind a complete game shutout from Calyton Kershaw, who also opened the scoring with his first career home run. Magic Johnson's 20-year-old son was spotted making the scene on the Sunset Strip with his boyfriend this weekend and it's hard not to see the resemblance to his famous father — especially when he grins. Earvin Johnson III — nicknamed EJ3 — was hand-in-hand with his equally smiling BF when TMZ caught up with the happy couple.  EJ3 is one of Magic's three children...

Magic Johnson Supports His Gay Son EJ, Who Stolls LA in Fur Coat and Purse (Video)

I don’t really care if Magic Johnson’s son is gay or not, but I do know it is pretty warm in LA, so he can’t be comfortable in that fur coat or am I missing something? It is my opinion, that being a parent means having unconditional love for your child, so regardless of their sexual orientation, religious beliefs, their choice in partners and etc, you should be supportive....

Mattingly not fazed by 'lame duck' status

LOS ANGELES Its not a problem for me at all, Dodger manager Don Mattingly replied when asked about the fact that team management has decided for now not to give him a contract extension heading into the 2013 season. This is the final year of the deal he signed to replace Joe Torre after the legendary manager retired in 2010. On Monday against the World Champion San Francisco...

Larry Bird, Bill Russell Join Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in Latest AT&T Commercial (Video)

AT&T already capitalized on the popularity of the NCAA tournament in their series of “It’s Not Complicated” commercials, and now the pros are getting in on the action, too. The company’s newest ad features the same focus group leader, but instead of kids fielding the questions, he’s joined by NBA legends Larry Bird, Bill Russell, Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar...

Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Larry Bird & Bill Russell; It’s not complicated

AT&T’s ad campaign featuring Beck Bennett interviewing kids on the benefits of concepts like “more,” “speed” and “saving money” are my favorite right now. Just in time for March madness, AT&T has tweaked the concept and gathered Basketball Hall of Famers Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Larry Bird and Bill Russell. In these spots, Bennett and the legends...

Larry Bird, Bill Russell, Magic Johnson and Kareem Star in new AT&T Commercial

Frequent listener and mailbag contributor, Mark Henry, sent me a link to the latest AT&T commercials. Mark is a die-hard Philadelphia 76ers fan so the site of seeing 4 people who have terrorized the 76ers for decades brings cold chills to Mark's heart. This is well worth the watch. Enjoy.

Video: Magic hurts Larry’s feelings in new ad

Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Bill Russell, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar all star in a new set of AT&T ads.  The first of them is alright, mostly because it makes fun of the tiny guy that’s spent the past few months making smug observations with 4th graders. But the second one actually involves a little witty dialogue, and Larry Bird delivering the money line: Magic with the set...

Hyun Jin Ryu cares not for your concept of hustle … and he has a point

Hyun Jin Ryu made his Dodgers and MLB debut yesterday, and in the bottom of the six inning he came to bat and did … well … that. Some people on Twitter didn’t take too kindly to him dogging it, and the fans at the field booed him for it, but most importantly, the dugout didn’t seem to appreciate it, including Don Mattingly. One message that Ryu figures to receive in the next...
