Yanks Go Yard:
The Yanks released their first player this spring, as lefty reliever Neal Cotts bit the dust. Cashman says the decision came based on Cotts’ physical from Monday and had nothing to do with performance.
Also from that article: Joba’s fat, but there’s “no beer gut.” I wouldn’t expect there to be a beer gut, Joba’s a Crown Royal man.
In other news from Spring Training:
- Phil Hughes threw a 40-pitch bullpen session this morning. In doing so he mixed in all of his pitches: cutters, breaking balls and changeups. “The whole shebang,” he said.
- ManBan also threw a bullpen session this morning, no word on how many pitches he tossed though.
- Mo is still not in camp due to his kids being sick. “Maybe tomorrow,” Cashman said.
- AJ Burnett = Captain Obvious.
- The only non-catcher position player officially in camp is Brett Gardner, who is rehabbing his surgically repaired wrist.
