Alright guys, it's two days into the offseason and I'm already going through baseball withdrawl. The offseason is the time to make moves that teams couldn't make during the season. Acquisitions will be easier as free agents are the prominent target for teams. Although trades can take place as well, I'll be looking at my top five free-agents on my wishlist today.
1. Michael Bourn CF
Michael Bourn got his start in Philadelphia and it would be nice to see him come back. Having Bourn in the leadoff spot would benefit the Phillies in so many ways. The 29 year-old outfielder is coming off of an All-Star year with Atlanta. Bourn hit for .274 in 155 games with the Braves. Bourn also drove in 57 RBI, but his number of stolen bases stick out the most. Bourn swiped 42 bases this season while failing 13 times. A speedy leadoff guy who still has youth is who the Phillies need in order to become a situational-ball team. Relying on home runs is getting old and with Jimmy Rollins...

Josh Lindblom has limited righties to a .191 batting average in two seasons.
The Phillies’ bullpen was a disaster in 2012, placing 21st in ERA (3.94) and 29th in eighth-inning ERA (4.89). The ‘pen blew 19 saves — 11 more than their 2011 total. And it lost 27 games after losing just 18 in 2011.
So it made sense that when the Phillies were set to unload Shane Victorino and Hunter...
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer's Bob Brookover, the Phillies have declined Placido Polanco's $5.5 million contract option for 2013. They will instead pay a $1 million buyout to Polanco. The oft-injured Polanco is no longer a sure bet. It remains to be seen how healthy Polanco is or if he will seek playing again.
Polanco was perhaps most productive for the...
Bob Brookover is reporting that Jimmy Rollins has won his fourth Gold Glove in six seasons. Rollins won three-in-a-row from 2007-2009 with the Phils.
Rosters for the Arizona Fall League’s All-Star type showcase were announced on Wednesday with two Phillies prospects among the talents involved. Third baseman Cody Asche (pictured) and catcher Tommy Joseph will represent their Javelinas club in the seventh annual Rising Stars Game, which will be televised on MLB Network this coming Saturday, November 3rd at 8 PM eastern time...
The Phillies are making moves in the middle of Hurricane Sandy. This is because the day after the World Series represents the first day of free agency. Though not much of a surprise, the Phillies have declined their contract options for infielder Ty Wigginton and relief pitcher Jose Contreras, reports Phillies.com's Todd Zolecki. Each player will get $500,000 to go away...
While the season itself ended up tumultuous at times for Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins, he has had a number of personal accomplishments to show for it. Earlier in the season Rollins beat out Larry Bowa to top the games played at shortstop list in Phillies history. Then, Rollins picked up his 2000th career hit. Now, Jimmy Rollins has won another Rawlings Gold Glove award...
Carlos Ruiz posted career highs in batting average, doubles, HRs and RBI. The Phillies announced Monday that the club will pick up his $5 million option for 2013. The Phillies catcher was also announced as a finalist for the NL Gold Glove.
The Philadelphia Phillies made some unsurprising roster moves on Monday. Most of the moves seemed like only formalities and were foregone conclusions...
The Phils have earlier this week (Monday) announced that they have accepted Carlos Ruiz’s $5 million dollar option for 2013, so he’ll be staying with the ballclub for at least another season. Carlos, who played in 114 games, thanks in part to being on the DL twice during the season, had a .325 batting average (121 for 372) with a .935 OPS, as he had 32 doubles and 16 home runs...

Vance Worley was expected to be a dependable fourth starter in the pitching rotation. The 25-year old was a major surprise in the 2011 season, compiling an 11-3 record with an ERA of 3.01. Injuries to Roy Oswalt and Joe Blanton created an opportunity for Worley to prove he belonged in the big leagues...
The Philadelphia Phillies exercised their $5 million team option on catcher Carlos Ruiz for next year, according to NBC Sports' Hardball Talk. Ruiz, 33, had career highs in batting average (.325), home runs (16) and OPS (.935) in 114 games. He will be eligible for free agency after next season.
What if the Detroit Tigers could add some speed, defense, and a pretty decent hitter to the lineup? What if I told you there is one player that is hitting the free-agent market that provides all three things?
Outfielder Michael Bourn is that man, and he finds himself on the free-agent market for the first time in his career. The free-agent center fielder has played for the Philadelphia...
Last night Jimmy Rollins was awarded his 4th Gold Glove of his career. Jimmy is always considered among the top fielding shortstops in baseball. Rollins played the third most games at shortstop in the National League and was second in fewest errors committed, only to Ruben Tejada who only played 112 games. Rollins also had…
This dumbass makes Phillies fans worldwide so proud. Just imagine the pride his momma must be feeling.
