The Angels have designated 25-year old righty reliever Fernando Rodriguez for assignment. Rodriguez pitched in 7 games (1 start) in AAA-ball this season and he was 0-0 with a 9.00 ERA and a 2.40 WHIP. He pitched in one game in his career with the Angels (last year) and he was 0-0 with a 27.00 ERA and a 4.50 WHIP. The Angels need Rodriguez’ roster spot so that they could promote 32-year old lefty swinging outfielder Michael Ryan. Ryan played in 21 games in AAA-ball this season and he was 27 of 77 (.351 avg, .918 OPS) with 14 runs scored, 1 homer, 12 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. He last played in the majors in 2005 with the Twins. Ryan has played in 127 games in his major league career in which he is 69 for 260 (.265 avg, .721 OPS) with 32 runs scored, 7 homers, 33 RBIs and 4 stolen bases.
