Found December 08, 2011 on Angels Locker:
The Angels have signed 31-year old lefty starting pitcher C.J. Wilson to a 5-year, $75 million dollar contract. Wilson pitched in 34 games (all starts) for the Rangers last year and he was 16-7 with a 2.94 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP. He whiffed 206 batters in 223 1/3 innings last year while giving up 191 hits and walking only 74 batters. He really tightened up his control in his second season as a starting pitcher. Wilson has pitched in 325 games (73 starts) in his first 7 years in the majors and he is 43-35 with 52 saves, a 3.60 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP. Wilson will probably be the Angels’ #3 starter between Dan Haren and Ervin Santana. The Angels’ rotation is stacked now! The Angels helped themselves while hurting the division rival Texas Rangers, so I love this move for them.

Missing Wilson

Baseball Time in Arlington explains why the lack of bidding by Texas on C.J. Wilson bothers him: And if I may be perfectly honest, that logic does make some sense to me. (Though, depending on the extent to which it’s all true, I’m concerned about how much room is left for payroll expansion yet this winter.) But I still hate the shorter-term ramifications of Wilson-to...
