I know some Mets fans have this obsession with Jesus Feliciano, Chris Carter, and Mike Hessman, but I don't really understand why.  They aren't young home grown players, nor are they major league caliber talent.  Maybe fans would rather see these guys than Ollie and Castillo, which I can sort of understand, but fans have to understand that these guys SUCK! and I am tired watching Jerry continue to trot them out there in big situations.

That me preface the rest of my post by saying that I respect the effort these guys put out (especially Carter), but in the end they are career minor leaguers who don't belong in the majors at all.  The issue with these three bench players is more of a problem with organizational depth, that has led to a lack of depth on the bench at the major league level for the Mets.  Even at the beginning of the year when they had three washed up MLB veterans in Matthews Jr., Jacobs, and Catalanatto, the Mets were very weak on the bench and its only gotten worse as the season has gone on.

I remember the days not so long ago, when the Mets had some of the best hitters coming off the bench, such as, Matt Franco, Lenny Harris, Julio Franco, and Marlon Anderson.  There cannot be enough said about how important depth is in having a successful MLB team.  If the Mets want to get back to the place where they were in 2006, they have to generate depth within their organization and on their 25 man roster.  Until then the Mets will continue to lean on players that don't belong, and tread water doing so.
