Conrad didn't have a spot on the 40-man roster, so somebody had to go. As a result, the club released left-handed reliever Zack Braddock, bringing an end (at least in Milwaukee) to what was once a very promising career. This move comes as a big surprise to everyone: Less than two years ago, Braddock was one of the best pitchers on the Brewers' staff at age 22, leading fans to dream about what he could be several years down the road. However, a series of problems that included minor injuries, a sleep disorder, and undisclosed personal issues got in the way. Today, we're going to try and recap Braddock's time in (and out of) Milwaukee, and look at what went wrong.Braddock made his debut in the Brewers bullpen May 23, 2010, to a fair amount of excitement by those who follow the team -- he was the 4th-best prospect in the system, accordin...

Brewers release once-promising Braddock

The after effects of first baseman Mat Gamel's season-ending injury continued to sweep through the organization Friday, as reliever Zach Braddock was released to make room for Brooks Conrad, the team's latest call-up. Gamel's injury prompted the Brewers to call up Conrad, who was not on the 40-man roster. And in order to fit Conrad, without putting Gamel on the 60-day...

Braun out of lineup for Friday night

Milwaukee Brewers star left fielder Ryan Braun will not be in the lineup for Friday night's game in San Francisco. Braun hurt his right Achilles on a slide during Tuesday's game against the Padres. The next game, Braun left with tightness in the muscle, but the injury was not expected to be that serious. Braun had just started to heat up after overcoming a slow start and...

Conrad will take Gamel's roster spot

With first baseman Mat Gamel now presumably out for the season with what is reported to be a torn ACL, the Brewers called up utility infielder Brooks Conrad on Thursday from Triple-A Nashville to fill the newly opened roster spot. Conrad spent the last three seasons with the Atlanta Braves, where he played in 225 games at the major league level. At first base, however, Conrad has...

Gomez leaves game with apparent leg injury

Brewers center fielder Carlos Gomez left Milwaukee's game Friday night in San Francisco in the bottom of the fourth inning with an apparent leg injury. He was replaced by Norichika Aoki, who moved to left, while Nyjer Morgan shifted to center field. The cause of Gomez's injury is unknown, but he appeared to grab for the hamstring on his left leg while running to second base...

Hamstring injury lands Brewers' Gomez on DL

Center fielder Carlos Gomez became the latest Milwaukee Brewers player to succumb to the injury bug Friday night, and manager Ron Roenicke told reporters Saturday that Gomez will be placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring. Gomez was injured rounding first base Friday night in a 6-4 win at San Francisco, and he left the game the next inning. He was replaced...

Gonzalez latest Brewer to DL after leg injury

The Milwaukee Brewers' tough week for injuries continues to get worse. In the top of the second inning against San Francisco on Saturday, shortstop Alex Gonzalez left the game after he slid into second base, turning his right knee on the base while stealing. Gonzalez was called safe on the steal but jammed his foot into the base on a late slide. He immediately spun flat on...

Braun out of lineup for opener with Giants

Ryan Braun is out of the Milwaukee Brewers lineup for Friday night's series opener with San Francisco, two days after the reigning NL MVP left the game at San Diego in the sixth inning with a sore right Achilles tendon. Manager Ron Roenicke says the slugger and left fielder could be available off the bench if he does fine handling pregame baseball activities. Roenicke wasn&...

Gomez leaves game with sore hamstring

It was the bottom of the fourth inning in a week that had already been a rough one because of a bevy of injuries when Brewers center fielder Carlos Gomez sprinted around first base in San Francisco and felt his hamstring tighten up on his left leg. Gomez left Milwaukee's game Friday night in San Francisco and was replaced by Norichika Aoki, who moved to left, while Nyjer Morgan...

Brewers hope to get bats going vs. Giants

The Milwaukee Brewers have had trouble scoring with the reigning NL MVP in the lineup. Now, they may have to try and produce without him. The San Francisco Giants have a hole in their lineup to fill as well. Ryan Braun's status is uncertain as Milwaukee looks to avoid a third straight shutout when former Cy Young winners Zack Greinke and Tim Lincecum match up in the opener...

Breaking Down Brewers Pitching: What Gives?

Being a Brewers fan this season is becoming an exercise in extreme patience to say the least.  On days when the bats come alive it seems we can't get the pitching to help out.  On days when the pitching has been awesome we can't hit to save our lives.  So it got me to thinking about what gives, especially with our pitching staff.  Well, the numbers tell us that this staff...

Brewers send Giants to 4th straight loss

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- The Brewers figured they should have scored more runs against a wild Tim Lincecum. Milwaukee wound up with just enough when it mattered -- and that marked quite an improvement from two shutout losses at San Diego. Aramis Ramirez broke out of his slump with a go-ahead, two-run single in the seventh inning and the Brewers held on to beat the San Francisco Giants...
