Saturday we got a glimpse of the kind of power the Detroit Tigers are working with in the middle of their lineup. Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder both went deep twice – and you better believe there is more where that came from….

You can see all four home runs by watching the videos here

The power potential is pretty uncanny between these two dudes to a point where I think everyone underestimated it. Of course, we all said, “Wow Prince and Miggy, that’s pretty sweet. Should be a lot of runs.” If you watched the game on Saturday you realized there are going to be times that baseballs are going to get annihilated in Detroit.

It begs the question; Even though it’s early in the season can we anoint Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder the latest version of the ‘Bash Brothers’

Detroit Tigers offense masks pitching concerns

The Detroit Tigers have started the season 3-0, and that’s all that matters in the end. Some underlying factors are definitely cause for concern, but for the time being, Tiger Town has looked past those and quite simply enjoyed the moments of a thrilling opening weekend sweep of the Red Sox. Sunday marked just the 2nd time in team history that the Tigers came back from multi-run...

The dynamic duo of Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder struck again and Austin Jackson’s hot start continued as host Detroit remained undefeated with a 5-2 victory over Tampa Bay on Tuesday. Jackson hit a tying solo homer and Jhonny Peralta added an RBI for the Tigers.Knotted at 2-2 in the eighth inning, Tampa Bay elected to let left-hander Jake McGee (0-1) face Cabrera leading...

Gamel, Brewers adjusting to roles post-Fielder

MILWAUKEE Reporters huddled in front of Mat Gamel's locker Friday evening, and the questions regarding the "Prince formerly known as a Brewer" seemed inevitable. After tallying two hits in his first Opening Day start, Gamel was asked about the importance of his performance given the man whose shoes he'd now be filling in Milwaukee. "Who's shoes am I...

Teams lock up stars before free agency

On Opening Day a year ago, even Prince Fielder's Milwaukee Brewers teammates knew the power-hitting first baseman was on his way out of town as soon as the 2011 season ended. Milwaukee made a multiyear pitch to keep Fielder prior to the season, but nothing got done, which underscored the fact there was no way the Brewers were going to keep Fielder. "When you have a player...

Jose Bautista, Miguel Cabrera Most Feared Hitters in Baseball According to Red Sox Fans (Video)

Red Sox fans are all too familiar with Miguel Cabrera after he hit three home runs against the Sox in the season's opening series. On Monday, Sox pitchers have another difficult task of dealing with Jose Bautista when they take on the Toronto Blue Jays. There's certainly no shortage of dangerous hitters around MLB that the Red Sox will have to face over the course of the...

Wezen-Ball: A Peek at My Scorecard by Larry Granillo

On Thursday, during our all-day, Opening Day chat marathon, I made a casual observation about Prince Fielder bobbling a ball at first-base and tossing it to the pitcher for the out rather than running to the bag himself: Larry Granillo: That was interesting from Prince. Bobbled the ball on the grounder to him and decided to lob it to Verlander instead of taking it himself....

Reactions from the First Games

As I ponder the last few games I wonder, what can I take from them? Are they real? Will Kyle Lohse be the greatest pitcher this season? Will Detroit average 9 runs a game (I sure hope so!) *Sidebar* Miguel Cabrera was pretty darn good at 3B. Will there be a legitimate closer standing by the end of the season? Who knows, but that’s what’s great about baseball! No matter how many...

The Detroit Tigers Start out 2012 with a Sweep

Three games into the 2012 season, the Detroit Tigers come out a flawless 3-0. For a Tigers fan you sit back and admire what an opening series it was. If your a Boston Red Sox fan, you hope this isn’t a sign of things to come. The Tigers exposed the Red Sox weakest points over the series. Lack of starting pitching, thin bullpen, no shutdown closer. Looking over the series, the Tigers...

Avila and Cabrera Sweep the Red Sox Back to Beantown

The Detroit Tigers bats are already living up to the hype! Earlier today, the Tigers completed the series sweep of the Boston Red Sox on an Alex Avila 11th inning walk off 2 run HR to win the game 13-12. The Tigers batters demolished the Sox pitching staff by piling up 39 hits, 26 runs and sent new Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine back to Beantown with a broom in one hand…and 2...
