No, the Mets have not signed Jose Reyes. But… According to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, Brian Costa of the Wall Street Journal, and others, the Mets have named Tom Goodwin as the 2012 First Base Coach. Goodwin has worked in the Red Sox organization for the last couple seasons. For the last three years, he served as the organization’s Minor League Outfield and Base Running Coordinator. With this hiring, the Mets now have all of the team’s 2012 coaches. Goodwin played all three outfield positions for 14 seasons in Major League Baseball, playing for the Dodgers, Royals, Rangers, Rockies, Giants, and Cubs. He retired from playing after playing with the Cubs in 2004, although he did play Minor League Independent baseball in 2005. Goodwin finished as one of the top seven base stealers six times in his career. He has the 95th most stolen bases of any player ever. By the way, Jose Reyes is 92nd all time for stolen bases.
