Found September 28, 2009 on 700 Level:

We started our morning with De La's rendition of the Phillies magic number, but the Roots take us into tomorrow on a much different note.

Personally, I'm not ready to panic just yet, but there are no truer words than "None of this is ever granted."

Commenters on the game thread seem to be pretty upset, and with good reason. The Phillies got debacled out there against a dead team led by a piece of luggage they lost in Clearwater. Gotta wonder if Bazardo gave Charlie Manuel the Rick Vaughn "You may think I'm **** now..." speech. Cole was strong enough through 5, got nicked in the 6th, and the 7th was a flat out disaster for him and Tyler Walker. The bats were laughable tonight, if you're into masochistic humor.

Two bits of good news: JC Romero returned from the DL and pitched a scoreless inning of relief (though he let up two hits), and Brad Lidge escaped his frame allowing just one hit and no damage. That's it. That's the good news. The sleepy effort the Phillies showed in front of a home crowd with the playoffs still not a forgone conclusion is why some fans are panicked tonight. I still think they win the division, but the preponderance of games like tonight's leaves too much room to worry about what happens once the postseason tickets are torn scanned.
