Jerry Hairston Jr. got the Dodgers scoring started early when they took on the Reds. He hit a home run blast in the first inning and just like that the Dodgers were up over the first place Reds 1-0. The the second inning came and the Dodgers would get their second run of the game when the Dodgers star short stop Luis Cruz hit a sac fly to deep center field and James Loney scored, the Dodgers jumped out to a 2-0 lead over Cincinnati and there was no way the team that L.A. loves could have seen what was coming next. The Dodgers fell victim to the Reds pitching who held L.A. score-less for the rest of the game.

For five innings the Dodgers had a 2-0 lead, Chad Billingsley held the Reds score-less and kept them off the board through five innings. Then in the six the Big Red Machine did it, they took the lead away from L.A. when they scored three runs, now it was 3-2 Reds. Not the way Dodgers fans wanted to see things happen. It only got worse from there. The Dodgers would then put Todd Coffey in to try to hold the Reds and he gave up two runs making it 5-2 in favor of the Reds.

Things only got worse from there. Jamey Wright came into the game and the Reds hammered him for 3 runs and that is the way the game would end with the Reds beating the Dodgers 8-2 after the Cincinnati Pitching closed down the Dodgers offense. It wasn’t a very good night for the Dodgers bull-pen.
