Broiled Sports:
The New York Yankees have not had a good offseason and we here are Broiled Sports won't let them forget it. Why, they definitely don't care what we think, I think we have proven our point. Brian Cashman and the braintrust behind the Yankees, seem to be in a bit of a time warp. They think we are back in 2002 again. Little do they know that it is actually 2011.With all of their signings this offseason, it is obvious they are banking on older players who haven't been good in years to play pivotal roles on the team this season. While all of them have clearly passed their primes, the Yankees haven't given up hope that they will catch lightning in a bottle. Probably not a sound strategy if you want to win your 28th World Series Championship.
The Yanks have made this offseason somewhat laughable with the signings of Bartolo Colon, Mark Prior, Freddy Garcia, Andruw Jones, Luis Vizcaino and Eric Chavez. They are also heavily rumored to want pitchers, Kevin Millwood and Jarrod Washburn. Either the Yankees think these older, declining players still have something in the tank or they legitimately think it is 2002.
