With 2013 being touted as a rebuilding year for the Mets, most fans are excited to see the debut of prospects like Travis d’Arnuad and Zack Wheeler. It is now May and the talk of these prospects is heating up. d’Arnuad is out with a broken foot and is due back soon while Wheeler just missed a start due to soreness in his neck. The team decided to play it safe with their top pitching prospect, as his eventual call up is right around the corner. Ever since acquiring Wheeler from the Giants back in 2011 for Carlos Beltran, he has been the talk of the town along with Matt Harvey as the saviors of the Mets. This hype has caused concern for many as there is a tremendous amount of pressure on these two kids, especially Wheeler. Harvey has always been looked at as the number two to Wheeler, the cherry on top of the sundae that is the future Mets pitching rotation. He has now exploded onto the scene in Flushing and is viewed as one of the best young pitchers of the game. For Mets fans, th...

Wheeler Watch: Top prospect could join Mets in a couple weeks

New York Mets top pitching prospect Zack Wheeler returned to the mound yesterday after missing just one turn in the Las Vegas 51′s rotation.  The soon to be 23-year-old received a cortisone shot early last week to help deal with inflammation in his right shoulder and in his first start back earned a win for the Mets Triple-A affiliate. #bbpBox_337281860596019201 a { text-decoration...

Mets rumors: Zack Wheeler expected to make debut soon

Zack Wheeler may have already been called up if not for injury setbacks in spring and early in his minor league season.  He still may have been left to wait for a time when the New York Mets were ready even if he were 100 percent healthy, though.  Regardless, the Mets appear poised to call up the young righty prospect soon. Mike Puma of the New York Post says a "high-ranking...

If Zack Wheeler Is In, Then Who’s Out?

“Hefner is the Anti-Harvey.” I caught that in Adam Rubin’s Morning Briefing today on ESPN New York. I guess if you go by their won-loss records you could certainly make that claim, but it’s not that simple. With all the latest reports now confirming what we’ve all been waiting for since Carlos Beltran was shipped off almost two years ago, the question now is: If Zack Wheeler is...

The Second Half Push: Harvey, Montero, Wheeler, and the Elusive .500

When PECOTA released their preseason major league projections earlier this year, there weren’t many surprises to be found in the National League East: The Washington Nationals were projected to once again top the National League East with 88-wins while the Atlanta Braves trailed them in second place with 82-wins. The surprise team in the group wasn’t the cream of the east, but...

He Has ... The Gift

Matt Harvey is still undefeated ... in two sports. Harvey, as you know ... and partially thanks to Rick Ankiel's triple on Wednesday, is 5-0 in 2013. Also, he's 7-0 in the stands as a fan of the New York Rangers, with no game being more important than the one the Rangers played on Thursday, a 4-3 overtime victory which saved their season for at least two more days. ...

Did The Royals Broadcast Have The Worst Graphic Fail Of All-Time?

Now we completely expect the hapless Kansas City Royals to make blunders on the field, but we expect a little bit of professionalism during their broadcast. Fox Sports Kansas City made one of the most egregious and blatant errors of sports graphics of all-time on Thursday night. During the Royals and Los Angeles Angels game the broadcast team asked the question; “Which Young Player...

Mets Swept After Ike Davis Blunder Ignites 7-4 Reds Win

Ike Davis’ troubles at the plate and in the field continued as he botched two plays at first, one in which opened the door to the Reds’ three-run ninth inning in Wednesday’s 7-4 loss. With the Mets being swept, they fell to a season-high ten games below .500. Matt Harvey did not have a great start, but came away with another no-decision. ON THE MOUND: Harvey gave up four...

For those of you familiar with Sports, take a look at the screen grab on your right. It's a graphic done for the Fox Sports Kansas City broadcast of Thursday's Royals game. Look closely...
