Jonathan Papelbon came into the top of the ninth with a 6-4 lead over Tampa Rays. Money? Nope. The Phillies, giving up back to back singles to Jeff Keppinger and Brooks Conrad, tied the score at 6-6. Thome, pinch hitting for Papelbon, homered to left on a full count. The Rays took a 3-0 lead, then in the bottom of the third, Jimmy Rollins homered, to pull the Phillies to 3-2. The Phillies increased the lead to 5-3 on a Juan Pierre home run. Carlos Ruiz increased the lead to 6-3 in the bottom of the seventh, then another run in the on a Carlos Ruiz single. That set up the Rays come back in the ninth.
