Who's Pedro's New Daddy?According to the Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo, three clubs are interested in making a deal for Pedro Ciriaco. The Yankee-killing utility man was designated for assignment by the Red Sox. There was "no room at the Carmine Hose Inn" for Pedro after Boston activated Will Middlebrooks and decided that it could not send down .400-hitter Jose Iglesias. It will be interesting to see if one of the interested parties is former Sox GM and current Cubs President Theo Epstein.

Daniel Nava's Road to Relevance

The word “All star” and the name Daniel Nava didn’t appear to be synonymous with each other when the season began. In fact it didn’t seem certain that Nava would even have a job with the Red Sox after Boston signed outfielders Jonny Gomes and Shane Victorino, and then traded for Mike Carp. Perhaps the word “adversity” and the name Daniel Nava would be more synonymous...

Jacoby Ellsbury’s Hot Streak Creating Wave That Red Sox Must Ride, As Unpredictability Will Always Loom

Jacoby Ellsbury’s season has essentially been a microcosm of his career. He’s been up. He’s been down. He’s been injured. He’s been criticized. He’s been defended. And he’s been arguably the most difficult player on the Red Sox to gauge. Sounds familiar, right? This season is a big one for Ellsbury because of his impending free agency. The hope was that Ellsbury could...

Recap: Lester roughed up at the Trop, Sox lose

Anything you have to say about tonight's 8-3 loss against the Rays begins and ends with Jon Lester. Sure, there were near-fireworks when Rays starter Rofaustoberto Hernancarmonadez, still pitching in the 8th inning with a five-run lead and a high pitch count, drilled Dustin Pedroia. All sides behaved themselves, but it was so obvious that Joe Maddon had ordered retailiation...

Red Sox Clay Buchholz may not make scheduled start on Sunday

Clay Buchholz has not suffered a setback.  Let's make that clear up front.  The Boston Red Sox ace may not make his scheduled start on Sunday simply because the team wants to be as careful as they can with him.  Buchholz has been battling a sore neck and AC joint, and the team wants him to be healthy before he goes out and pitches again. According to Ian Browne of MLB...

Mike Napoli Exits Game Against Orioles Because of Illness

Mike Napoli is apparently feeling under the weather. Napoli, who started Thursday’s game at first base, was replaced by Mike Carp before the start of the bottom of the third inning. The Red Sox have since announced that Napoli exited because of illness. Napoli doubled against Orioles starter Kevin Gausman in the second inning, but nothing stuck out while he ran the bases. He later...

2013 All-Star Game: Making the case for Nava

The Guru Contributing Writer There are nine Boston Red Sox players listed on the 2013 All-Star ballot, one for every position, including designated hitter. With the game a month away, David Ortiz appears a lock to make the team. Dustin Pedroia and Jacoby Ellsbury have a good chance to make it as well. A Red Sox player deserving a spot is not even on the ballot; Daniel Nava. Looking...

Benches Clear In Tampa: John Lackey Intentionally Plunks Matt Joyce

Boston Red Sox hurler John Lackey took exception to Tampa Bay Rays Matt Joyce crushing his less than impressive offering out of the ball park. Lackey proceeded to nail Joyce square in the back, who expressed his displeasure to Lackey stating it was “Fried Bologna” numerous times. Joyce then got in a shoving match with catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia who intercepted Joyce down...

Red Sox, Rays Should Think Twice Before Escalating Animosity in Wake of Monday’s Beaning (Video)

If the Rays want revenge for John Lackey‘s beaning of Matt Joyce on Monday, they’re not likely to get it early on Tuesday night. After all, neither team can afford to lose a starting pitcher in this game, after they both burned up their bullpens in an extra-inning affair the last time out. NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette isn’t ruling out any unruly behavior from the two teams...

Four Bases: Red Sox 2, Rays 1 – Nava Goes Deep to Seal Series Win

A relatively refreshing rubber match. After 18 combined runs in the first game, 11 combined runs in the second game, the Red Sox out-pitched the Rays in to take the 2-1 win, winning their eighth game against the team from the gulf. Here are the four bases: First Base: Escaping by the skin of their fingers. The rotation in this series should have gone 0-3, considering they combined...

The Forty-Percent Solution: Red Sox In Control

As of this morning, exactly 40% of the 2013 season is in the books for your Carmine Hose. They have won 40 of their first 65 games—a pace that would net them 100 wins (actually 99.63, but we're rounding up). The last time they hit the century mark was sixty-seven years ago in 1946—the year they lost the World Series to the Cardinals on the Enos Slaughter scamper to the home...

Shane Victorino Back in Lineup As Red Sox Open Series Against Orioles

After spending Wednesday as a pinch runner and defensive replacement for Mike Carp, Shane Victorino is back in the lineup on Thursday as the Red Sox open a series against the Orioles in Baltimore. Felix Doubront has a nice matchup against the Birds, as their best hitters, Chris Davis, Adam Jones and Manny Machado, are all better against righties. J.J. Hardy and Nate McLouth have...

Afternoon Red Sox Delight - 6/12

After getting spanked last night, the Boston Red Sox look to take the series finale tonight in the rubber game of a three-game set with the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. The game will be broadcast on NESN in the Red Sox television market. If you live in the Rays television market, you can catch the game on Sun Sports. And if you can...

Red Sox-Orioles Preview

The 37-29 Baltimore Orioles will start a four game series with the Boston Red Sox on Thursday night. The Orioles are staying in the division and wild card race and their offense has carried them this season.  The Orioles are in the top 10 in four different hitting categories, runs, batting average, on base percentage, and slugging percentage. First baseman Chris Davis is having...

3 Stars of the Games: Games 65-66

Ryan MacLeod Contributing Writer The Red Sox have started their 4 game series with the Tampa Bay Rays with a split of the first two games. The first game went to extra innings before the Sox defeated the Rays and then in the second game the Sox lost. Here are the stars of the games: Game 65: Star 3: Dustin Pedroia In the 14 inning game most players got to step to the plate 7 times...
