Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera is back in the lineup with a heavily taped right ankle.
Cabrera was set to be the designated hitter Friday night against the Los Angeles Angels.
Cabrera says he hopes to be healthy enough to play third base in the second game of the series on Saturday night. He left Thursday's game against Toronto during the second inning with soreness in his ankle. He hasn't missed a game this season.
Angels first baseman Albert Pujols was not in the lineup in the series opener in Detroit. He hasn't played since he was taken out Wednesday, in his team-high 121st game, against Boston with tightness in his right calf.
