Tigers OF Boesch to have surgery, out for season

Detroit Tigers outfielder Brennan Boesch is expected to miss the remainder of the season after having surgery on his injured right thumb. Boesch hasn't stated the exact date of the operation, but it is expected to take place sometime next week. The 26-year-old Boesch finishes the season batting .283 with 16 homers and 54 RBIs this season.
