Fox Sports Detroit:
The Detroit Tigers announced that the team has agreed to terms with infielder Ramon Santiago on a two-year contract that would lock him up through the 2013 season.
Santiago, 32, appeared in 101 games for the Tigers last season, the majority at second base. He hit .260 with five home runs, 11 doubles and drove in 30 runs.
He secured himself into the everyday lineup late during the 2011 season by hitting .295 with four home runs and 22 RBIs after the All-Star break.
Next year will be the utility infielder's ninth season with the Tigers who are going into the 2012 season as defending American League Central Champions for the first time.
Terms of the contract were not released.
